“Higuchi: Mechikaboola was a character originally mentioned by name only in the PC game [DB Online]. We originally created the Xeno warriors with [Bandai Namco Entertainment]’s [DB Xenoverse] team, but since Mechikaboola didn’t appear in [Xenoverse], we made Mechikaboola, who initially existed solely by word-of-mouth, into an actual concept with only [SDBH]’s team.”

Higuchi: If you’re wondering why SS4, first we need to understand that the anime that aired around the same time as [DBH]’s [God Mission] series, [Dragon Ball Super], can be said to be the official history of DB. From a global perspective of [Super], releasing a newly evolved character could contradict the anime, and by doing that there would be a risk of anticipating that character in the anime.
On the other hand, we also had the original Xeno warriors in [SDBH] that were gaining popularity with players, and so we went with creating the new character using the global perspective of the Xeno series as a base. That’s why we didn’t choose Bardock to have a God form from “Super,” but rather SS4. At around that time, Bardock had recently starred in a new story from the spinoff [Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock], so his position in the DB official history was a little bit uncertain. And so with that type of background, even though he normally wouldn’t be able to become SS4, thanks to Mechikaboola, we decided that an impossible character could emerge from the time axis through the manipulation of time. To express the terrifying capabilities of Mechikaboola, SS4 Bardock was the most optimal being for that sort of thing.
