Army Analysis: Bowser's Generals

 Background

In addition to lower ranking captains, most segments in Bowser’s army have some kind of de facto General or King. Acting as overall leaders for their species or sub-unit.


King Goomba


The king of the Goombas. King Goomba AKA Goomboss was first made a king with the power of the star rod in Mario 64. He has several abilities.


Goomba summoning

King Goomba can summon smaller Goombas to attack his enemies.


Growth

King Goomba can grow in size as he takes damage.


Dash

King Goomba can run at high speeds and bash into opponents.

Spin kick

King Goomba can perform a damaging spin kick.



Army Hammer Bro

The leader of the “bros” section of Bowser’s army. Army Hammer Bros has all the same abilities as a normal hammer bro, though he can summon more Bros for support during a fight.



General guy

The Leader of the Shy Guys. General guy wields a giant toy mech that can protect him from damage and produce lightning strikes. He can coordinate Shy guys for more complicated acrobatic maneuvers.



King Boo

The leader of the Boo’s and the main villain of the Luigi’s Mansion series. It should be noted that while King Boo has acted on his own, he’s worked under Bowser’s command on multiple occasions(and has been called a minion directly). Making his inclusion as a part of Bowser’s army justified. He has all the powers of normal Boos plus several others. He wears a crown that seems to have properties similar to the Dark Moon artifact found in Luigi’s Mansion 2.


Shape shifting

King Boo can grow himself to giant sizes or change his outer appearance to that of somebody else.


Ice projectiles

King Boo can produce ice/freezing projectiles.


Fire projectiles

King Boo can produce various fire projectiles that can home in on targets. He can also breathe fire.


Enlargement

Kind Boo can magically grow objects.


Toungue attack

King Boo can produce a large tongue that can be used for melee attacks.


Teleportation

King Boo can teleport short distances.


Boos

King Boo can summon lesser Boos to help him in a fight.


Invisibility/intangibility

Like normal Boos, King Boo can make himself or others both invisible and intangible.


Electrokenesis

King Boo can call down bolts of electricity on his foes as an attack.


Painting sealing

King Boo can magically seal characters into Paintings. 


Pocket dimension creation

King Boo (and Boos in general) can create pocket dimensions.


Possession

Boos and other ghosts can hide inside of and possess inanimate objects.


Duplication

King Boo can duplicate himself into multiple copies.


Bombs

King Boo can produce bombs that he can use as projectiles.



King Bob-omb

The king of the Bob-ombs and their leader. King Bob-omb first aided Bowser in Mario 64 and has been a recurring character since. He has many abilities of the normal bob-ombs, with a few new ones thrown in.


Throw

King Bob-omb can pick up characters and throw them long distances.


Bob-omb summoning

King Bob-omb can summon smaller Bob-ombs to use as explosive projectile attacks. He can also conjure cannons to fire them.


Self detonation

Similar to normal Bob-ombs. King Bob-omb can detonate himself to cause a massive explosion.


Petey Piranha

A giant Piranha plant that acts as the leader of the Piranha plants. He first appeared in Mario Sunshine, and has aided Bowser in several of his schemes since. His anatomy is far different than most Piranha plants, giving him a host of unique abilities.


Flight

Petey can fly using leaf-like wings.


Ground pounds

Petey can perform powerful ground pounds that produce shockwaves.


Piranha plant generation

Petey can summon or generate other Piranha plants or plant based objects.


Sonic Scream

Petey can create a powerful sonic scream that can force opponents backwards


Paint

Petey can also vomit a toxic sludge akin to the paint used by Bowser Jr. This includes creating fake piranha plants out of goop.


Misc


Kamek

The original parental figure of Bowser and the head of the magikoopas. Kamek is best characterized by his magical skills, which includes conjuring a magic broom he can ride on.


In addition to normal Magikoopa abilities, he has a host of unique powers.

Magic projectiles

Kamek can produce magical energy balls. These typically take on the form of  colorful squares, triangles and circles, bunched together in magical energy.


Magic energy constructs

Kamek can create various constructs out of magical energy.  Including giant magical shapes and constricting ring projectiles.


Teleportation

Like all Magikoopas, Kamek has the ability to teleport.


Transmutation

Using magic Kamek can transmute one object into another. Most commonly transforming stone blocks into enemies.


Growth/shrinking

Kamek’s most famous magical ability is his ability to either enlarge or shrink a target of his choice.


Telekinesis 

Kamek can use magic to telekinetically control platforms and objects from a distance.


Magic Hammer

Kamek has a giant Magic Hammer he can use to make things grow to large sizes.



Creation

Kamek can use magic to create objects or various life forms out of nothing. This ranges from pipes, blocks, Goombas, Thwomps, and so on.


Sealing

Kamek can seal opponents in magic bubbles.


Mind control

Magikoopas can mind control victims and make them do their bidding.


Flame spells

Kamek can cast various flame spells. Including projectiles, rings of fire and walls of flame.


Duplication

Kamek can create perfect duplicates of himself with all his powers.


Healing/stat buffs

Kamek knows several healing spells, can summon healing mushrooms and can enhance an allies Attack or defense.


Power nullification

Kamek can disable a character's abilities and transform/nullify their inventory.


Misc



Koopalings

The second highest members of Bowser’s entire Army(Below only his son Bowser Jr). The koopalings were originally depicted as Bowser’s biological children, but were retconned into being his most trusted minions. Despite this they clearly still maintain a family like relationship with him, and may as well be considered adopted. Most members of Bowser’s army refer to them as “masters” signifying their overall importance. They all wield magic wands stolen from the kings of various kingdoms across the mushroom world.


Collectively the Koopalings have many “shared” abilities, such as.


Transmutation

The koopalings can transform people into animals or other objects with magic.


Growing spells

The Koopalings can grow objects or people to giant sizes, similar to Kamek.


Magic projectiles

All the koopalings can produce magic ball projectiles with their wants. The exact shape and coloration of said projectiles varies from game to game.



Shell defense

All of the koopalings have shells they can duck into for defense. They can also spin in them like a top to bash into opponents.



Fire Breath

All of the Koopalings are capable of breathing fire and spewing fire ball projectiles.


In addition to their general abilities, the various Koopalings also have more individual abilities


Wendy

Wendy can create special bouncing energy ring projectiles. She can also enlarge these projectiles to constrict opponents. Additionally she can split herself into duplicates, has a handheld shield to block attacks, a flying attack drone and ice skates for mobility.


Lemmy

Lemmy can conjure large yellow balls he can balance on and use as a battering ram. He can also conjure smaller yellow balls to use as projectiles, spiked ball projectiles, create bombs, and split himself into duplicates. He also has a rapid spin bash attack.


Mortan

Mortan can climb up walls, ground pound and create shockwaves. He also wields large hammers and can summon large Thwomps.


Larry

Larry can create large bowling balls like projectiles and has a tennis racket that can reflect projectiles.


Iggy

Iggy has a pet chain chomp that he can send after opponents. He also has the ability to walk on walls and perform a spinning top attack. He can also switch an opponent's stats, teleport and shrink opponents with lightning.



Roy

Roy can perform ground pounds, wall on walls and throw giant boulders as an attack. He also has a cannon that can shoot paint or bullet bills. He can also summon giant bullet bills to ride on and tunnel underground to travel without being seen.


Ludwig

Ludwig has better magic control than most of the other koopalings, being able to fire more powerful and numerous magic projectiles at once than any other member. His magic projectiles can also home in on opponents. Ludwig can also flutter jump, use “battle cards” to buff his speed/stats, and can create magical disguises to fool opponents. He’s also a known negotiator that can get people to join his side of a fight during a battle.


Scaling and Feats

Bowser's generals downscale from most feats done by Mario and his allies, due to fighting them on various occasions. Refer to the Bowser blog for a longer list of feats regarding this.

  1. Newer Super Mario Bros. DS is a fan game, so King Boo shouldn’t have growing in size or ice projectiles on his profile (to my knowledge he’s never done either of those in the games).
