Background

• Name: James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes

• Height: 5' 9" (1.80 m)

• Weight: 260 lbs (118 kg)

• Age: Roughly 94 chronologically, not much older than his 30s physically.

• Backstory: Bucky was born in 1925. In his youth, he was separated from his whole family, be it through the deaths of his parents or through his sister going to a boarding school while he tried to get into the army, which he succeeded in. During the early years of World War II, he received special training from the British Commandos. Eventually, he befriended fellow soldier Steve Rogers, unaware of his secret identity as the super soldier Captain America. Soon, he stumbled upon Captain America in Steve’s tent, and he connected the dots. From that point on, Bucky served as a sidekick of the Captain throughout the war. On a fateful day, while chasing after an experimental self-piloting plane that Baron Zemo was trying to steal, both Bucky and Steve tried to leap onto the plane to stop it, but only Bucky managed to get on it. However, the plane had a powerful explosive attached to it, and it went off right when Bucky was on the plane, so he got caught in a deadly explosion and then fell into the sea, where he was rescued by a Soviet submarine. The Soviets reanimated his body and put him through an intense brainwashing and training program, turning him into the Winter Soldier, a perfect tool that they put into stasis from mission to mission. In the modern era, after Captain America was thawed out from the ice where he had been trapped for decades, Bucky and Cap had a few run-ins, but the former didn’t recognize the latter until he used the Tesseract to break him out of his brainwashing. From that point onward, he has aided the Captain on numerous occasions and even succeeded him when he died during the Civil War.

Powers & Abilities

• Enhanced Physicality: Thanks to Nick Fury, Bucky has been injected with a special serum different from Cap’s known as the Infinity Formula, which is based on Isaac Newton’s Elixir of Immortality. This not only grants him eternal youth, but it also allows his body to stay in peak condition, as well as enhancing his already outstanding strength, stamina, speed, etc. This also greatly speeds up his natural regenerative abilities, but not to a degree that would be useful in combat.

• Resistance to Mind Control: In modern appearances, Bucky received a special modification from Tony Stark that made him immune to any sort of mind control or brainwashing techniques.

• Fighting Style: Bucky has a varied fighting style that combines hand to hand combat, armed close-quarters combat, and ranged combat through the use of firearms. Although his martial arts aren’t named, we know details about them: “tactical hits to do the most harm with the least effort and using the enemy’s strength against them”. During his time as Captain America, he demonstrated extreme levels of shield-throwing skill. He was trained by the same people who trained Steve Rogers.

Equipment

• Bionic Arm: Bucky’s signature weapon. It is a prosthetic arm that the Soviets made to replace his lost arm. He currently uses an upgraded version made by Fixer. It’s made of an unspecified metal, but it is known to be highly durable and lightweight. It can emit electric charges and EMP charges that disable machines. In its newest upgraded version, it has a built-in flamethrower and a retractable blade. Should it ever be cut off or separated from his body, it can move on its own in order to return to Bucky. It can automatically reload Bucky’s firearms. If a tough enough material (i.e. Vibranium) manages to tear through it, it can still be used to attack through its electric charges.

• Palm-print sensors: Bucky’s firearms all possess special sensors. If anyone other than him tries to use them, the gun will automatically explode.

• Visor: Bucky’s mask thingy is actually a tactical visor that can help him analyze the structure of buildings.

• Sniper rifle: Bucky’s preferred ranged weapon. It’s a custom rifle that he masterfully utilizes. It can use deadly and tranquilizer rounds. It uses an infrared scope that can detect even invisible targets, such as Miles Morales when he was using his Spider-Camouflage.

• Assault rifle: Likely an AK-47.

• Combat knife: Sometimes hidden in his uniform.

• High-caliber gun: Most likely a Magnum.

• Standard-caliber gun(s): Common pistols that Bucky occasionally dual-wields.

• Concussion charges: Explosives capable of destroying massive robots.

• Climbing and sneaking gear: Climbing claws and a small saw-thing. No combat use, but can help in dominating the battlefield.

• Smoke discs: Small discs that emit smoke. Good for sneaking around, but not if you’re dummy thicc.

• Grappling hook: Good for building-hopping. He also used one in his pre-Winter Soldier days.

• Submachine gun: Standard automatic weapon.

• Sleeping gas grenade: Non-lethal explosive that knocks out those who inhale its gas.

• Captain America’s shield: Cap’s Proto-Adamantium shield. He sometimes wields it outside of the Captain America costume, but it’s far from being standard equipment.

• Throwing knives: Knives specially designed for throwing. Non-metallic, just in case he has to fight Magneto.

• Katana: Turns out he has weeaboo swords too.

• Machete: Typical bladed weapon.

Strength & Attack Potency

• Even as a child, casually beat adult soldiers.

• Pierced through Wolverine's flesh.

• Fucked up Wolverine when he was in Berserker mode. 

• Breaking a metallic spider robot with mere punches.

• Fighting off a robotic copy of Nick Fury and knocked it out with electricity.

• Electric pulses are strong enough to knock out Cape-Killers, which are SHIELD agents trained to beat Cap.

• Physically launched an arrow with enough strength and precision to kill a Hydra agent.

• Beat up Crossbones.

• Fighting off Black Widow.

• Fighting against Punisher.

• Lifting and stamina.

• Beating up Ursa Major. 

• Punching through a door. 

• Ripped a huge metallic leg from Gorgon’s suit.

• Taking a blast from Tony's armor. The same kind of casual blast he took from Tony destroyed a helicopter in this same issue.

• Barely surviving attacks from Skadi, a Thor-level menace. (Big outlier because he only survives thanks to the Infinity Formula after several days of rest.)

• It took Cap, Daredevil, Wolverine, and Hawkeye's combined might to subdue him.

Scaling

• Captain America (Steve Rogers): Frequently fights him on very even grounds. Both tend to fight the same enemies.

• Steve blocking lightning shot by Electro.

• Wolverine: Has been able to fight evenly against him even when bloodlusted.

• Wolverine survives getting punched from Georgia to New York. The foe who did this was Gorgon, whom Bucky has faced directly.

• Hawkeye and Daredevil: It took their combined might (plus Steve and Wolvie) to subdue him when bloodlusted.

• Deadpool: They have not directly fought, but characters like Steve Rogers and Wolverine have frequently done so, so they should be on relatively even terms when it comes to physicality.

Weaknesses

• His arm, while durable, is not indestructible, and his fighting abilities are drastically reduced if an occasion like this one takes place.

• Just like Captain America, tends to avoid needless killing, but he is not afraid to do so if needed
