Wiz vs Boomstick Death Battle Fan prediction blog

"The following is a fan-made blog, whose opinion is only those involved in its writing. It is not officially endorsed by Rooster Teeth Productions or a representative of the views of the Death Battle staff at large."

------------------------------------

Ultra here. Given it’s the show's 10th anniversary, I thought it might be fun to answer the age-old question of “who wins, Wiz or Boomstick?". I hope people enjoy it, though I'm going to stress this is a fun side project of my own volition, and not connected to the show in any official capacity.

So how does Death Battle work(in-universe)

So in order to analyze Wiz and Boomstick, we need to establish how Death Battle itself works in-universe since many items and abilities used by Wiz/Boomstick originate from the characters they analyzed in Death Battle episodes(Note the following is NOT an official explanation, just Ultra's unofficial headcanon).

Anyway, the Series of Death Battle clearly takes place in the same universe as the web series Red vs Blue. Death Battle is known by people in that universe, during the episode “meta vs Carolina” it’s stated that Wiz and Boomstick are scientists in that universe, and it’s heavily implied that the R V B character Sarge is Boomstick’s father.

  • DB ep 64 1:33 Death Battle is known in Red vs Blue

  • DB ep 64 1:50 Wiz and Boomstick are scientists in the world of Red vs Blue

  • DB ep 64 16:21 Wiz and Boomstick meet Sarge and it's suggested he’s Boomsticks dad

Boomstick also mentions putting in a “2 weeks notice” at one point. This correlates with the assumption that Wiz and Boomstick are researchers in the world of Red vs Blue, whose job is probably to study characters and see who would win in a fight.

  • DB ep 111 11:35 Boomstick mentions a “2 weeks notice”

Anyway in terms of how "fights" themselves work. It’s shown in Meta vs Carolina, that Wiz and Boomstick legitimately just spy on the characters to gather information for episodes. Which they did to the Red/Blue crew.

  • DB ep 64 6:56 It’s implied Wiz/Boomstick spied on the RVB crew for the footage in Meta Vs Carolina.

Likewise, the fight of Meta vs Carolina is shown to be a simulation. As the fight's conclusion does not alter R v B continuity, and the characters from that show watch it and react to the results.

  • DB ep 64 14:44 Meta vs Carolina is shown to be a simulation of some kind.

That said, any character in Death Battle probably does exist for real within DB’s continuity. Wiz and Boomstick likely just peer into alternate realities to study the characters they use on the show.  Boomstick is even shown to exist along with other famous fictional characters on DBX.

So summarizing this, Wiz and Boomstick spy on characters from other fictional media/timelines/multiverses, then create a simulated fight based on their observations. This also explains why they mention taking notes in many eps, having interns and why the results or numbers for episodes using the same characters can change.

  • DB ep 37 5:00 Boomstick and Wiz have interns.

  • DB ep 99 6:28 It’s implied all the notes for the show aren't just taken by Wiz and Boomstick.

That said the simulations do seem to have some element of “realness” to them. As Wiz has mentioned using instruments to track characters while they fight and some characters have broken into the DBX arena while fighting. This is likely due to some reality-warping tech, which Wiz mentions he has experience with.

So in summary Wiz and Boomstick are scientists in the Red vs Blue universe. They use tech to spy on the “real” counterparts of fictional characters from across the multiverse. Then create a simulation with reality-warping tech, which recreates those characters in a Death Battle scenario. This essentially means that any item or weapon they use in the series originating from one of these characters should have the same “potency” as the original, or at least the same potency assumed by Wiz and Boomstick based on the research they performed(and given they can update research, we can just say any items can be upgraded to reflect new information).

Backgrounds

Wiz

The co-host of the show Death Battle. Wiz has a genius intellect and generally acts as the person who breaks down complex information when discussing which fictional characters would win in a fight. He’s also part of some kind of mad scientist community, and is generally fairly introverted, spending most of his time inside. He seems to have some daddy issues as well, as he feels like he didn’t earn his Dad’s appreciation before he passed away. Wiz has a secrete lab or lair of some kind where he creates most of his inventions.

While Wiz is generally smarter than his co-host Boomstick, he’s also much more unhinged. He’s stated to have bouts of “revenge madness” against his enemies, needs some kind of medication to keep his mind balanced, has implied he wants to take over the world on a few occasions, and has destroyed multiple planets to get out of paying his student loans.

Despite often acting like Boomstick is an annoyance, he clearly enjoys his company. Having apparently known Boomstick since Middle school and going on numerous trips and vacations with him since.

  • DB ep 48 9:25 Boomstick and Wiz go on trips together.

  • Db ep 68 1:31 Boomstick forgot to wear pants when he first met Wiz.

  • DB ep 85 1:42 It’s stated Wiz and Boomstick have known each other since middle school.

  • DB ep 101 9:09 Wiz and Boom go to bars together.

Additionally, Wiz is apparently married. Though who too hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Boomstick

The Co-host of Death battle, along with the character Wizard. Unlike Wiz, Boomstick is a bit of a redneck. He lives in a shack in the middle of nowhere, hunts his own food, and is fairly uncultured. He was raised by a single mother, whom he claimed died in one episode, but who was later shown to be alive and well.

  • DB ep 81 7:25 Boomstick is Boomstick’s real name

  • DB ep 26 7:00 Boomstick catches squirrels for supper

  • DB ep 99 5:40 Boomstick lives in a shack

  • DB ep 103 17:30 Boomstick says he lives in a trailer in the middle of nowhere

  • DB ep 85 11:11 Boomstick says his mom died to a ghost in a barn

One of his big hang-ups is the status of his father, who apparently ran out on him and his mom when he was a child. Causing him to cycle through several stepdads. It’s later heavily implied that his father is Sarge from the web series Red vs Blue.

He also has an ex-wife who left him for another man, and who he regularly describes as evil, terrible, ETC. He supposedly has to pay her alimony checks.

  • DB ep 8 5:30 First mention of  Boomstick’s ex-wife

  • DB ep 22 2:06 Boomstick again mentions being married

  • Db ep 39 3:44 Boomstick calls his ex-wife “death”

  • DB ep 78 4:47 Boomstick mentions wanting to outrun his ex-wife

  • DB ep 113 6:50 Boomstick gives alimony checks to his ex-wife

  • DB ep 125 3:05 Boomstick’s wife apparently left him for another man

Finally, Boomstick has at least one child, and likely more, though only a daughter has ever been confirmed to exist.

Which leads to one of Boomstick’s defining characteristics.  Due to all his stress and his fractured family life, he copes by drinking Beer…. aLot. He’s even married a lamp while drunk and gotten tattoos while on drunken benders.

  • DB ep 50 2:46 Boomstick got drunk and married a lamp

  • DB ep 71 7:01 Boomstick has a tattoo of a beer bottle and shotguns on his ass from a  drunken bender

Despite often acting like Wiz is an annoyance, he clearly enjoys his company. Having apparently known Wiz since Middle school and going on numerous trips and vacations with him since.

  • DB ep 101 9:09 Wiz and Boom go to bars together

Stopwatch/Stop Materia

Wiz has the stopwatch power-ups from the Mario series, which stops time completely for a few seconds.  As well as stop Materia and an unspecified time stop.

Ice flower

A power-up from the Mario series. It allows the user to fire balls of ice that can freeze an opponent solid instantly.

Gold flower

A power-up from the Mario series that allows the user to fire projectiles that turn enemies into coins. It should be noted that the website bios in the USA and UK specifically note that turning enemies into coins is what these projectiles do.

Examples of destruction usage

Examples of destruction ki failures

Fire rod

A rod from the legend of Zelda. It fires balls and streams of fire.

Booster Gold belt

The shield generator used by Booster Gold from DC comics.

This ForceField Belt originally belonged to Brainiac-5 of the 30th century and forms an impenetrable barrier of energy around the users body even protecting against microscopic bacteria. Not only does it protect from physical and energy damage, it resists more esoteric attacks like matter manipulation and even telepathy.

You can also project his force field outward to surround and protect others, or to do so offensively, usually covering an opponent, then shrinking the force field until it crushes them. It’s also worth noting that his force field activates extremely quickly, able to raise itself to cover fast enough to intercept a punch from Doomsday, a character that can fight at massively faster than light speeds.

  • (Justice League International v2 #5) The forcefield stopped a blast that was breaking down the planet on a subatomic level. This means that he should be able to resist any sort of atomic matter manipulation.

  • (Booster Gold v2 #24) Survived attacks from Trigon (who can destroy planets just by looking at them, among other feats) using his force field.

  • (Booster Gold v1 #7) Superman says Booster’s force field should be strong enough to protect him from his blows.

Speed force soda

A soda filled with cosmic kinetic energy, similar to the speed force used by Wally West. People using the Drink can move at MFTL speeds.

  • DB ep 132 4:09 Wiz can lace beer with cosmic kinetic energy.

  • DB ep 132 20:22 Boomstick drinks a soda and he runs to Jupiter in seconds.

The Raid Suit, is a portable battlesuit-in-a-can that greatly enhances strength, speed, and durability, and gives a couple extra abilities. Sanji’s battlesuit was the model for the fictional character Stealth Black, .

  • (Ch. 931, pg. 7) Its main ability is invisibility, allowing you to perfectly blend into his environment and attack his opponents, as he did against Page One. Image 1 Image 2

  • (Ch. 931, pg. 9) The cape is a shield from attacks, the heels have accelerators that increase kicking speed and power, and the heels have levitators. Image

  • (Ch. 931, pg. 10) The suit is also extremely tough, allowing normally devastating attacks to only “hurt a little bit.” Image

  • (Ch. 931, pg. 11) The levitators in his heels allow him to fly into the air at high speeds. Image

A Shield from Lex Luthor that can turn an opponent into a Flat Character.

  • DB ep 142 3:52 Wiz can replicate doom’s 2d barrier

Ovoid mind transfer

A mind transfer device used by Dr.Doom in Marvel comics. It lets him swap consciousnesses with the opponent, essentially giving him their body, and rendering them trapped in his. Wiz builds this device into Dummi, so he can likely make it for himself.

The mind transfer can and has worked on characters such as Reed Richards, who have minds strong enough to resist being controlled by the Skrulls. Probably because the ability isn’t any sort of mind control or manipulation, it’s just swapping the consciousnesses of two individuals.

Clone army

Wiz has a variety of clones of himself with the same intelligence and abilities of the original.

Sols hammer

A giant orbiting laser similar to the Sol hammer used by Ironman. It’s stated to have destroyed multiple planets.

The time ring used by Goku Black in Black vs Reverse Flash.

  • DB ep 149 5:25 Wiz has the time ring from DragonBall.

Time rings are a time-traveling device that lets you travel forward in time and then back to the present where you started. You can also use it to travel to any adjacent alternate timelines.

Time rings can also react in the presence of space/time distortions caused by others, such as Trunks’s time machine. In these cases, the ring can open a rift in space to allow the user to follow said people to whatever location in time they’re traveling to.

  • DBS ep 49 7:04, 20:59 Black’s time ring reacts to the time distortions of the Trunks’ time machine, allowing Black to follow Trunks to his destination in the main DB timeline.

Finally wearing a time ring does protect you from time paradoxes.

  • DBS ep 61 3:41 Goku black says the time ring protects him from changes to time, so the temporal effects of Beerus’s Hakai didn’t affect him.

Black hole generator

A black hole generator capable of destroying planets.

Thanos chair

The chair used by Thanos from Marvel. It can be used to travel between dimensions and time at FTL speeds.

Artificial Symbiote

Wiz has an artificial symbiote, similar to the symbiote seen in Spiderman.

Symbiotes are inorganic and amorphous, with their bodies behaving like liquids which allows them to shapeshift and graph themselves onto hosts of all shapes, sizes and species. The symbiote can read its hosts thoughts, performing actions without being explicitly told to do so even when it isn’t being worn

Symbiotes are capable of reproducing the effects of Spider-Man’s webbing, allowing him to swing from building to building, or trap foes in gallons of webbing. Through the symbiote’s malleable body, they can mold the user into a variety of different forms and structures. They can increase the size of his entire body or just some of his limbs, make its host look completely unrecognizable by mimicking clothing and body structures (even dressing up as Santa!), make his foes suffocate by either covering their face or sending the symbiote into their bodies, cover Eddie's eyes to prevent himself from being blinded, and use camouflage to mimic his surroundings to the point of seeming invisible

Symbiotes can also create weapon-like objects from its body (usually arms), such as maces, spikes, scythes, blades, and claws.  Symbiotes can attack foes with tendrils, which prove useful for sneak attacks coming from underground. These can also help him get a better grip on his opponents, even trapping them in entire blobs. These tendrils can slip through tiny cracks in glass or even down to the molecules

  • DB EP 109 4:43 Boomstick has a fully functional Omnitrix

Should the user be helpless and about to die, the Omnitrix possesses a fail-safe that will automatically transform them without restrictions into whatever alien he needs to survive. The Omnitrix can also scan new aliens and receive their DNA, allowing the user to transform into them. The original Omnitrix had a self-destruct mode that, if allowed to build up energy for several days, would be powerful enough to destroy the entire universe.

  • Ben’s worst alien, yes even worse than the alien literally called ‘The Worst.’ He’s just a fish. That’s it. He can do normal fish things. He has legs to walk, I guess, so there’s that.

Pesky Dust

  • A fairy-like alien that can fly and produce a special dust that will put opponents to sleep, allowing him to enter their dreams and manipulate them.

Mole-Stache

  • A mole-like alien that can instantly grow and manipulate a giant mustache that acts as a super strong pair of limbs, and is skilled with using them in hand to hand combat.

The Worst

  • Not actually Ben’s worst alien, he completely lacks any aptitude for fighting but his soft fatty body can absorb physical impacts, making him quite resistant to damage at the expense of being a punching bag.

Kickin Hawk

  • Ben’s best hand-to-hand fighter, he has impressive strength and speed and is a master at combat with his legs (which are strong enough to generate shockwaves), though he has claws on his hands as well.

Toepick

  • Has no powers, but his face is apparently so utterly horrifying that anyone who views it will be instantly incapacitated from fear, sometimes even being driven to vomiting and near-madness.

Astrodactyl

  • A pterodactyl-like alien that has a jetpack that allows him to fly at super speeds, and can manipulate energy to create energy whips and fire an energy beam from his mouth.

Bullfrag

  • A frog-like alien that has an inhumanly powerful jumping ability as well as a huge prehensile tongue that he can use to grab and trap foes.

Atomix

  • Can manipulate huge amounts of nuclear energy to create powerful blasts (one of which is a Kamehameha rip-off complete with chant), and has enhanced strength and durability.

Gutrot

  • His insides contain a variety of special gases which he can combine into compounds like sulphur dioxide or nitrous oxide, which he can then release.

Whampire

  • This vampire-like alien can absorb the energy of others by sucking on them, hypnotize foes, control minds with special drones, fly, create a sonic blast, and has infrared vision.

Alien X

  • A Celestialsapien from the Forge of Creation outside the Multiverse, Alien X is nigh-omnipotent.

  • He can warp reality at his whim on a universal scale, move things with telekinesis, brainwash others, reverse time, duplicate himself thousands of times, fly at massively faster than light speeds, destroy planets with punches, regenerate injuries, survive the destruction of the universe casually (he wasn’t even aware it was happening until it was pointed out), and according to Kevin, “[Celestialsapiens] can just blink, and you’d be gone.”

  • That said, they're slow to act. In order to do anything you must convince two consciousnesses inside the alien to agree on the action. Something that can take billions of years. Though technically the Boomstick should be able to access the form.

Odachi sword

A five-foot long mystic weapon from Rise of the TMNT.  The real beauty of this weapon is its Portal Power Jutsu. With enough concentration, skill, and sometimes just a ton of luck, the weapon can slash the air in front of him and create a portal, though where exactly it will lead is a little unspecific at times.

  • DB ep 122 4:26 Boomstick has Leonardo’s odachi sword, which can open portals

Ak-47

An AK-47 automatic weapon.

Sword of protection

The iconic weapon from She-ra. Aside from being a double-bladed cutting weapon, the Sword’s main purpose is to grant the power of  She-Ra. It’s magical transformation beams can also affect other animals, giving them horns and wings as well, like when a stray transformation bolt hit a random lizard (S1E4 - Flowers for She-Ra).

Even just functioning only as a sword alone, the Sword of Protection possesses incredible sharpness, able to cut a grappling hook gifted to He-Man from the Sorceress of  Castle Grayskull that He-Man himself said was unbreakable (S1E18 - Horde Prime Takes a Holiday), and incredible toughness, able to resist being broken despite being used to pull the Moon, reversing its movement during an eclipse (S1E28 - Bow’s Farewell)

Its most notable ability allows the sword to transform into other weapons or tools that roughly maintain the sword’s mass (though not always), including:

  • lasso (S1E14 - Friendship, S1E15 - He Ain’t Heavy)

  • shield (S1E18 - Horde Prime Takes a Holiday, S1E7 - In the Shadows of Mystacor)

  • space helmet (S1E18 - Horde Prime Takes a Holiday)

  • parachute (S1E18 - Horde Prime Takes a Holiday)

  • pole (S1E20 - Three Courageous Hearts)

  • bolas (S1E27 - The Eldritch Mist)

  • grappling hook (S1E28 - Bow’s Farewell)

  • tennis racket (S1E32 - Friends Are Where You Find Them)

  • boomerang (S1E43 - Welcome Back, Kowl)

  • glider (S1E48 - Birds of a Feather)

  • net (S1E49 - For Want of a Horse)

  • ladder (S1E51 - My Friend, My Enemy)

  • magnet (S1E58 - Black Snow)

  • baseball bat (S2E8 - The Time Transformer)

  • lightning rod (S2E14 - Romeo and Glimmer)

  • discus (S2E22 - The Inspector)

  • staff (S2E1 - The Frozen Forest)

  • morningstar (S2E1 - The Frozen Forest)

  • grapple gun (S2E2 - Ties That Bind)

  • coffee mug (S2E1 - The Frozen Forest)

The sword possesses other magical abilities, including:

  • Deflection of magical attacks (S1E5 - Battle for Bright Moon, S1E6 - Duel at Devlin, S1E11 - The Peril of Whispering Woods, S1E14 - Friendship, S1E21 - The Stone in the Sword)

  • Absorption and redirection of energy (S1E39 - Into the Dark Dimension)

  • Cutting through lightning and dispelling it (S1E62 - Magicats)

  • Firing magical energy beams (S1E10 - The Prisoners of Beast Island, S1E4 - Flowers for She-Ra) as well as freezing ice beams (S1E10 - The Prisoners of Beast Island)

  • Weakening a spell of possession on Adora’s mind (S1E2 - Beast Island)

  • Immune to and reflects shadow magic (S1E14 - Friendship)

Speed force Soda

A soda filled with cosmic kinetic energy, similar to the speed force used by Wally West. People using the Drink can move at MFTL speeds.

  • DB ep 132 4:09 Wiz can lace beer with cosmic kinetic energy

  • DB ep 132 20:22 Boomstick’s speed fore drink kicks in, and he runs to Jupiter in seconds

Dust

Dust from Rwby. Dust is the physical embodiment of nature (taking form in crystals). Boomstick has Fire and Ice, to make explosions of Fire and Ice respectively.

  • DB ep 144 3:42 Boomstick has fire dust and ice dust

Magic cape

A magic cape from Zelda that makes the user invisible and seemingly intangible.

Vehicles

Boomstick has numerous vehicles. Including cars, a giant hotdog called the Boomstick mobile, a dune buggy, tanks and a Truck.

Abilities

WIZ

Alucard regeneration

Wiz supposedly has regen similar to Alucard from Hellsing. Essentially he can regenerate from almost any damage by consuming one of millions of souls he’s absorbed.

  • DB ep 151 10:47 It’s stated Wiz has consumed millions of souls, so he can regenerate when fatally injured, which he uses to regenerate from being transmuted into beer.

Boomstick

Ghostly wail

The ghostly wail from Danny Phantom. It creates an omnidirectional wave of ecto energy that causes damage to any opponents and objects in the vicinity.

  • DB ep 128 3:38 Boomstick has the ghostly wail from Danny phantom

Drunken fist

A martial arts style replicating the moves of a person when they’re Drunk.

  • DB ep 138 9:37 Boomstick actually has a knack for the drunken first when drunk

99 bottles

A metaphysical being based on the “stands” found in Jojo. Boomstick’s stand 99 bottles, can turn anything it touches into Beer.

  • DB ep 151 5:13 Boomstick gets a stand from the golden arrow, called 99 bottles. It can turn things into beer, which Boomstick does to Wiz. Though he turns him back to normal with Wiz’s invention off-screen

Stands move according to the will and desires of the user but can act autonomously in order to preserve the life of the user (and themselves). Such as when Star Platinum autonomously caught a bullet to keep it from hitting Jotaro.

https://mangasee123.com/read-online/Jojos-Bizarre-Adventure-Color-chapter-13-page-10.html

  • Stands are spiritual/mental, and therefore cannot normally be affected by anything other than other Stands or abilities that can affect things astrally.

  • Stands and their user typically share the same damage. If one is harmed so is the other.

  • A Stand’s energy is proportional to the range of the operator. The closer they are to their user, the stronger they become.

Food Quirk

Boomstick has a genetic superpower, AKA quirk, from My hero academia. It allows him to summon different types of food.

  • DB ep 119 3:00 Boomstick has a quirk that can summon food

Airbending

The ability to alter the flow or create gusts of air using chi. The ability originates from the Last Airbender series.

General applications.

  • S1ep12 14:25 Airbending blowing Ammon out a window.

  • S2ep2 19:38 gust of wind with being made with a punch

  • S2ep3 18:40 Creating a gust of wind to knock over some opponents

  • S2ep12  20:40 giant slicing wave of wind

  • S4ep6 9:39 Creating a pulse of air with a kick

  • S4ep7  18:55 Airbending lifting several off a train in an air tornado

Air spout

Allows the user to lift themselves into the air on a tornado of air.

Air scooter

An ability to create a ball of air that can be balanced on like a top. The scooter can boost a person forward like a vehicle.

Magic

Boomstick apparently knows some magic spells. His infinite naptime spell can put opponents to sleep, while his beer spell can turn things into Beer.

Verdicts

Ultraguy

Anyway, I think this match is honestly pretty simple. Wiz has knocked out Boomstick with a punch and vice versa, so they aren't massively stronger than the other in “base”. Both characters have access speed force soda, so their maximum speed is about the same. Likewise, they both also have basic Mjolnir armor, so they get the same scaling for durability and strength from Red VS Blue. What really determines the fights is what unique abilities and items both characters have, and honestly, I think Wiz probably has the advantage. A lot of his inventions, abilities, and “borrowed” items bit haxier or “cosmic” in scale than Boomstick’s.

For example, Wiz has Booster Gold’s shield belt, which can stand up to universe busting threats from DC comics, which we know has a universe billions of times larger than our own…at minimum. This same shield can protect the user from mind control,  transmutation, and Trigon, who’s probably a multiversal level character. So right off the bat, Wiz has an impenetrable defense that Boomstick can’t really get through via physical force because nothing in his arsenal can possibly match the cosmology of DC comics. The shield can also be used offensively so that cosmology applies to Wiz’s AP as well.

Wiz has multiple ways to stop time, whether it's the stop clock, the stop materia, or his own time machine. This basically means he can do pretty anything he wants for large chunks of time, technically giving him a speed advantage. We also know Boomstick is not immune to time stops either, because Wiz successfully uses these time stops on Boomstick when he explains them in the episodes where they appear.

On that same note, Wiz has a lot of time machines, which Boomstick doesn’t really seem to have a time travel ability(although a recent preview implies Boomstick "might"). Wiz also has multiple transmutation abilities like the gold flower, which again Boomstick is not shown to be immune to, as they explicitly work on him in the episodes they’re introduced.

Wiz has destruction Ki, so he basically just wipe Boomstick(and all other Boomsticks) from reality. Cause destruction Ki can destroy a person's body, soul, and any other versions of themselves across timelines. Which is something Boomstick doesn’t really have a defense for.

Wiz has Alucard's soul-based regen and an army of clones of himself indistinguishable from the original. That’s a broken combination of abilities. It basically means you need to kill Wiz millions of times just to put down a single version of him, and he might have backups of himself anyway.

Wiz has the ovoid mind transfer from Doctor Doom, blackhole generators, a symbiote, which realistically could just do anything Venom could do in his episode, like possession and the symbiotes healing factor on top of the Alucard one.

So you basically have a character who has the DC’s AP/Endurance advantage, time stop hax, time travel, two massive regens, possession, clone backups, and existence erasure.

Tbf Boomstick has some stuff that helps him a bit. He has a sleep spell,  a stand that can turn things into beer, a rift-making sword, and an invisibility/intangibility cape. But Wiz’s Regen has shown to be able to reverse transmutation, destruction ki can probably still kill Boom even if he’s intangible, and the sleep spell probably isn’t wide hitting enough to matter if you have multiple clones of Wiz running around.

Boomstick’s heaviest hitting items are probably the sword or protection and the Omnitrix. But I don’t think any “arguments” for the sword being multi existed in the 80s cartoon, which that episode was primarily based on. Likewise, while the Omnitrix def gives him “a lot” more tricks, it kinda just turns into a Ben 10 vs Hal problem. Where most of the individual aliens aren't strong enough to compete with herald-level strength and hax, and only Alien X could really matter.

And unlike Ben, Boomstick has never gone through an arch to get the voices in alien X to listen to him. Leading to a situation where trying to use it would probably just turn him into a sitting duck, and Wiz would just end the fight with the booster gold shield sheer force, or revert Boomstick's genetic transformation, which was Wiz does when Boomstick misuses the watch in Ben vs Hal.

Finally, while Boomstick is better trained as a combatant, Wiz is probably smarter in a practical sense. Realistically speaking Wiz’s more likely to come up with a workable plan, and know how to use his items from various DB episodes, because he does more research than Boomstick in General.

Overall Wiz probably wins at the moment.

Lousy

We'll see how future episodes shape things up, but as it stands, Wiz wins.

He's going to be the smarter of the two, and should have counter measures to anything in Boomstick's kit. We've outright seen him counteract things such as transmutation in the animations already. Heck, a lot of the equipment Boomstick uses is stuff Wiz either made or could reasonably replicate. Granted, the later point could be leaning into prep territory, but even considering that, Wiz's tech and equipment is better all around.

The stop watch plus any of the haxier items we've seen work on Boomstick (such as transmutation) gives Wiz a pretty safe insta-win, and isn't something Boomstick can counter. And since Wiz has Alucard's regen, he should be able to last longer and deal with any insta-win moves Boomstick has.

Theoretically, Boomstick could use the Omnitrix to go Alien X, and take Wiz out. But given that he's never actually used Alien X, that Alien X is normally locked and needs permission to be used, and that Boomstick... disfigured himself the one time we see him use the Omnitrix, I'm skeptical about it leading to a win.

And that is pretty much Boomstick's one shot at winning. Without it, he's outmanned by Wiz's clones, outgunned by his weaponry, and outsmarted by his tech

Phantom Falcon

Please go watch “I Want To Eat Your Pancreas”. Title sounds weird but the movie is so good

God, Death Battle has been lasting for quite a while huh. The show’s a bit over a decade old, and we all know it’s coming to an end soon, and the MU to end it all is a fight between the hosts themselves, Wiz vs Boomstick.

This is a pretty interesting match, given how Wiz and Boom should be similar in stats. Both scale to RvB bullshit, which means they get scaling to the 10 megaton bomb. Granted, one could just say that’s an outlier, but the point is they just…scale to every feat there, which means they’re gonna be close to even regardless of what you buy. Even limiting them to feats without the armor doesn’t add much. Boomstick generally has more impressive onscreen physical feats, but given how Wiz with his metal arm has knocked Boomstick out, as well as vice versa, they should just be relatively similar. So stats aren’t a super big play here. What ultimately matters is how their abilities and gadgets counteract each other.

...wait didn’t we just have th-

Right off the bat, Wiz should be smarter. Not to say Boomstick isn’t intelligent in his own right, given he’s usually the expert when it comes to firearms on combatants, but Wiz is usually the one who does all the calc’s and general research. He’s also generally shown to be less gullible than Boomstick, and has even tricked him before into doing some stupid bullshit. He’s even the one who designs most of the stuff we’re giving both him and Boomstick, with Boomstick’s only real “useful” invention is funni fart robot he made once.

Speaking of inventions, yeah Wiz just kinda dominates here. Both gain access to Speed Force Soda, but with multiple ranged options via Mecha Goose Howard, the fire rod, mega buster, trident of neptune, web-shooters, batarangs, and loads more, Wiz can just shoot the thing off Boomstick’s grasp. Beyond that, Wiz just has way more hax at his disposal with time stopping and time travel, existence erasure with Hakai energy vials, mind transfer if things can ever get desperate so he can pull a Doom, multiple ranged attacks from space so he can just shoot Boomstick from fucking miles away with Sols Hammer, a 2D barrier which we know has affected Boomstick before, a Symbiote which grants him shapeshifting and camouflage, Alucard level regeneration which means he can regenerate from a literal pile of blood at least 3 million times given how it’s soul based, various clones all with the same gadgets and abilities, etc… Bottle 99 won’t do much given we know Wiz’s regeneration can allow him to escape it, while Boomstick has no such counter to Gold Flower transmutation. The Omnitrix is Boomstick’s best bet at a W, mainly Alien X, but there’s a couple issues with that. First off, Boomstick never went through what Ben did, having to directly negotiate with the two consciousness inside Alien X to help him fight, and it would reasonably take a while, meaning Boomstick X is just standing there, albeit menacingly. 2nd, even with Alien X, it doesn’t really…change much? Booster Gold force fields are at least universal, and likely higher if you volume scale the size of the DC universe to our own, which would make the shield 1 billion times stronger than Alien X. That’s an absurd power gap, and not something Boomstick can reliably get around. Which also means nothing is stopping Wiz from just giving the force field to Boomstick and crushing him with it. And finally, given how the Omnitrix Boomstick had was explicitly the original model, it doesn’t have the failsafe installed, which is a big oof. And this is ignoring that, since Wiz has multiple clones, Boomstick would have to kill Wiz over 3 million times (via Al levels of regen) just to permanently put him down. Call me dumb, but I think Wiz just using any of his hax before that is uh, more likely.

Obviously Death Battle is still going, and it’s certainly possible that, in the future, Boomstick could get some wacky bullshit that allows him to turn the tides in his favor. As it stands doe, Wiz is just kinda the clear winner of this

Thanks to Ultra for giving me the honor to make a verdict on this!

Kingsly

It’s hard to believe this show has lasted over a decade, both with how much has changed and how much, ah, hasn’t. Namely, in the hosts themselves. We know Wiz vs Boomstick will happen at the end of the series, but especially with the introduction of the animated avatars, it definitely feels like they’re being built up more and more for that final battle. This is what happens when you end up with VS debaters writing for your show.

In terms of commonly shared equipment, the RvB armours don’t add loads to this fight. They’re the same model and provide the same amplifications to reactions assuming Halo details apply to RvB. You could debate if feats like the 10 megaton explosion hold up (I would probably lean towards it being an outlier), but all that changes is the exact level of explosion Wiz and Boomstick could survive just through the armours. Basically, they don’t do much for this battle beyond equalising durability and giving the obvious general benefits wearing armour provides. Without the armours, their toughness is a bit difficult to measure given the nature of the show, but Boomstick is probably generally more impressive. Both have been in several of the Screwattack Royal Rumbles (22:50 and 24:40) and, uh, do general wrestling things you’d expect, so arguably both bring some physical combat experience and pain tolerance to the table, but beyond that, Boomstick has feats like punching down trees, fighting sharks, taking anvils to the face, ripping off Wiz’s (human) arm, etc etc. That being said, Wiz still wears armour tough enough to tank a punch from Boomstick and hurt him. That or his crotch is simply so durable it’s as hard as iron, which is a joke I’m sure somebody finds funny. Likewise, both have just, knocked each other out with simple slaps and punches. Neither has any notable speed feats either beyond Boomstick ‘technically’ drinking a beer can FTE in episode 100 and some meme beer drinking feats in general, but they’ve also, uh, hit each other just fine without Boomstick just dodging, so I doubt you can take that to mean much. With that, combined with the RvB armors, they’re probably about physically relative to each other.

With all that said, that means this would largely come down to equipment and abilities, and yeah, Wiz just has an advantage in that field. Stuff like the Speedforce soda for Boomstick would allow him to blitz if he manages to drink it, but Wiz is the one who invented that soda and gave it to him in the first place. He could easily just knock it out of his hand with his variety of ranged weapons, like the Fire Rod, Cyber-Goose, or Widow’s Kiss. Boomstick is a quick drinker,  but he would need to figure out he has to use it quickly, and Wiz has options to prevent him from moving altogether. Boomstick isn’t lacking in this regard given his access to Dust and the Trident of Poseidon, and both share generally powerful guns from RvB and their own Mega Busters, but it basically makes anything like a soda you have to drink a really unreliable way to win. Boomstick could hypothetically like, go invisible, set up a bubble shield, and then drink the soda, but I highly doubt he would figure that out, and even then, Wiz has several methods of stopping time that Boomstick lacks (how would Boomstick even drink the soda through the armour anyways?). There is nothing stopping him from just turning Boomstick into gold coins whenever he wants, while Boomstick’s own transmutation with his Stand has been shown to be ineffective against Wiz’s millions of souls. Speaking of, that, combined with Wiz’s several clones, means Boomstick is gonna have a real tough time killing Wiz. Consider that Wiz has access to stuff like Booster Gold’s forcefield, which even with just the numbers given in the episode has durability of over 14 tenatons of TNT. It’s probably out of the modern DB spirit to take this long to get to the numbers as opposed to focusing on abilities but I digress. That’s more than durable enough to withstand anything in Boomstick’s arsenal in terms of raw power, and it’s ability to redirect matter should block even some of his weirder options like knock out gas. Boomstick could hypothetically portal through the forcefield with the Odachi, but that weapon is unreliable, and Boomstick even straight up failed to use it in the episode the one time he was shown having access to it. Combine all that with the aforementioned millions of souls and clones, Boomstick is gonna have a real tough time killing Wiz even once, if it’s not just a clone, and then has to do that again 3 million times.

Boomstick’s ace in the hole is probably the Omnitrix on paper, but in practice it’s not really that useful. Wiz’s arsenal like transmutation and his forcefields can still put em up to most aliens, and it’s also reliant on Boomstick knowing how to use the Omnitrix properly in the first place, when the one time he did use it he fucked his DNA up by spamming the transformations. Most transformations only really have one gimmick too, and either aren’t strong enough to get past Wiz’s defenses or don’t have the right abilities. Let’s say he does use it properly though and switches to an alien who could possibly deal with the forcefield, like, say, Feedback or Ghostfreak. Wiz can just stop time and use his weapons to kill them, take your pick of destruction energy or tachyon table saw or such. Even Aaaaaaaaaalien X, who by the episode’s analysis could probably erase Wiz and get past his forcefield in raw power, is basically useless. Unlike Ben, who eventually managed to negotiate with Serena and Bellicus, Boomstick is gonna have to convince the two personalities to fight this one specific guy they don’t know. Somehow, I doubt Boomstick is much of a negotiator. That essentially would just leave him as a sitting duck, sorta like, y’know, how Alien X worked in Ben 10 itself,  and Wiz has shown the ability to alter people’s DNA and reverse transformations before. Wiz could also probably just kill then and there with destruction energy or the gold flower or anything else, you get the picture. You could argue stuff like She-Ra’s Sword of Protection would give Boomstick the raw power he needs, but going by the episode’s numbers, 44 yottatons would be millions of times weaker than Wiz’s defences, and the episode didn’t really focus on all the comic stuff anyways, so I dunno about pulling in outside info like that. Its healing is nice, but Wiz can just one shot him, so that’s not really that useful. Boomstick has a weird instance of his soul leaving his body upon death and possessing whatever’s nearby, which you could maybe use to argue he can just possess Wiz upon death, but we just don’t really know how that works. Wiz’s millions of souls and ability to exist as a spirit going by the Hiei episode would probably interfere with that, and if killing him is an issue, destruction energy is mentioned in Beerus’s episode to be capable of erasing souls, and so would provide a surefire way of permanently putting him down.

Even all of that isn’t mentioning Wiz’s other random esoteric stuff Boomstick can’t do anything about, like time travel, mind transfers, or his various death lasers in space. Wiz essentially has so much random bullshit he’s gotten over the years that Boomstick can’t reasonably get past all of it before being taken down himself. That sorta leads into a big point, that being that Wiz is just obviously much smarter than Boomstick. Boomstick has a few instances of being surprisingly smart for haha funee gags, but Wiz has been shown to do more research for the show and just generally be more knowledgeable on the combatants. He’s researched and designed a lot of the weaponry in Boomstick’s arsenal, and knows how all of it works and how to counter it, while Boomstick is shown to be less knowledgeable on what Wiz can do in a lot of scenes. Wiz has also just tricked Boomstick into doing some really stupid shit before, again mostly for joke cutaways. Being real, you could probably argue that Wiz could just trick Boomstick into accidentally killing himself, given how often the latter misuses weaponry and harms himself anyways. They are long-time friends after all, they know a lot about each other, and Wiz has shown to be much better at manipulating Boomstick than vice-versa.

In essence, Boomstick really can’t ‘realistically’ put down Wiz for good in-time before Wiz just uses any of his many one-shot options to kill Boomstick, and Wiz’s intelligence means he can easily figure out Boomstick and his arsenal quicker than the latter could to Wiz. Something something looks like Boomstick just couldn’t keep his red-neck in the woods, the winner is Wiz.

This is a very silly topic to take seriously, but thanks a lot to Ultra for having me on. I shall now use this platform of power I have been given to say that Wiz and Boomstick should make out. That would be pretty awesome.

That One Munchlax

Man, it is insane to think that Death Battle has been going on for so many years. And it is even more insane that I was asked to write a verdict on this idea. Now as I am extremely tired at the moment I will just go off of what I vaguely remember about Waze and Boomer.

Wiz is smart. Like super duper smart, I remember how detailed he goes for a lot of stuff. Sure Boomstick is smart sometimes, but he’s like a redneck. So no matter how intelligent he is, that still won’t surpass Wiz even if was acknowledged by Steven Hawking. But Boomstick is probably stronger because….look at him. You think Wiz will be throwing any punches with those skinny arms? Therefore the fight might just be a recreation of this. Of course you can never judge a book by its cover, so I won’t do that.

So one has intelligence and another has redneck energy. And they have a bunch of stuff I’m sure you’ve seen talked about in the actual blog and other verdicts, provided you actually read any of it and don’t just skip to the end to complain about all of the stuff the blog talks about. So for the real question, who wins? I’ll just agree to whatever the other people say, unless they are wrong.

Winner

  1. Amazing job with the research and detail on the fight. While I wished the sources were linked better, the time and effort in finding the series of the lore of Death Battle was still a blast to review. Amazing job overall.

And I hope that we may see the Series Finale one day.
