Character breakdown:Mewtwo

Author’s notes

This blog is based on my own personal notes for Mewtwo and may not reflect all the information you may see in an official Death Battle. Likewise it does not encompass the thoughts of the entire Death Battle team on its own.

In case you were wondering

I’m assuming most people understand how stats and typing work in Pokémon (and if you don’t *slap shame on you).

This mostly an overall composite of all Mewtwos, though the main background will be most heavily based on the first movie version of Mewtwo (since that’s what most people are familiar with). I will draw a slight distinction between Shadow Mewtwo from Pokken, however even that Mewtwo is just a normal Mewtwo with some added power given to it from a meggufin. In fact given Shadow Mewtwo transforms back into a normal Mewtwo available for play in Pokken over the course of the story, there’s no reason to believe it wouldn’t know any of the standard Pokémon moves Shadow Mewtwo used when it took on that transformation.

Only Mewtwo’s learn-set from the games will be talked about in detail. I will list a few misc tms of note however.

Additionally I decided to point out which version of Mewtwo used each ability/move I listed in this blog. It’s pretty self-explanatory.

Background

The last in the line of genetically engineered super Pokémon created by a team of scientist lead by a crime syndicate team rocket. During Mewtwo’s initial creation he was subjected to cruel gene splicing experiments and witnessed the deaths of many failed fellow clones, including a human girl named amber. This combined with a later manipulation by Team rocket leader Giovanni, caused Mewtwo’s personality to be twisted into a mostly cold and savage one compared to most other pokemon. Feeling betrayed by humans and unaccepted in the natural world, he decided to express his frustration by trying to use his power to destroy the world around him and rebuild it in his own image. Thankfully he was eventually stopped by a boy named Ash, whose selfless personality altered Mewtwo’s view of humanity.

In terms of personality while Mewtwo was originally portrayed to be a vicious and vengeful soul, he eventually softened a bit, becoming a nicer, albeit moody and introverted. He’s typically shown to be a super genius with an incredibly tactical mind in most media, being able creating elaborate plans, constructing complex machines and even manipulate others to reach his goals. Mewtwo has often faced existential crises, although for the most part he gotten over it.

Equipment

Beserker Gene
The Mewtwo species is aligned with 1 main holding items in Pokémon, the Berserker gene  The berserker gene raises attack strength by 2 stages according to Pokémon mechanics (or in laymans terms doubles it) at the cost of causing confusion. It also disappears permanently if used.  Given the double edged nature of the item and its limits compared to Pokémon moves that can accomplish the same effect, its doubtful Mewtwo would ever use it except as a last resort.

Mega Mewtwonite X and Y
Mewtwo can hold the mega stones Mewtonite x and Y, which are used for “mega evolution” in the Pokémon games. Given outside media has often shown Mewtwo being able to attain mega evolution without these stones however, him having them on him in a fight is unlikely and superfluous.

Weapons

Pswave spoon
Used by: Adv

A spoon made out of concentrated psychic energy that Mewtwo often uses for melee attacks and defensive parries in the adventures manga. The spoon can be used either to bash opponents or to cut through solid objects (with materials like stone and metal being cut fairly easily). It can also extend several times it’s default length (v 24 c 283) for extra reach (with its maximum length being longer than silph co tower/a large building). The spoon can also bend while extending and weave around objects to reach opponents. Mewtwo can eve turn the end of the spoon into a “spork/fork” of sorts that can impale opponents if he wants( v7 ch 80). While Mewtwo normally only manifests this weapon directly in his hands, he can also manifest it in the air around him and in multiple downward shots( v 25 c 291),

-Blain explains the combat mechanics behind it here (v 3 c 35). Basically this spoon is used mainly for one on one fights at close range.

Special abilities

Barrier
Used by: Adv, Movie 1, game, origins, pokken
Move type: Psychic
Move cat: Status
Move power:-
Move accuracy:-
Move effectiveness:-

A spherical barrier of psychic energy that greatly increase Mewtwo’s defense against projectiles attacks and physical strikes by two stages (200%). Mewtwo’s also been known to slam into his opponents at high speeds while using the barrier in move 1 and adv, effectively converting this mainly defensive ability into an offensive battering ram attack.

-Here’s an example of him using it to ram lance in the manga http://2.p.mpcdn.net/352588/630912/2.jpg  (v7 ch 80)
Using it to fight and ram mew in movie 1 https://youtu.be/aN6nIUzAaes?t=81

Shadow ball
Used by: Movie 1, Smash, Ranger
Move type: Ghost
Move cat: Special
Move power:80
Move accuracy:100%
Move effectiveness:2X damage against ghost and psychic type enemies.1/2 damage against dark type enemies. 0x times damage against normal type.

A ball shaped projectile ghost type move that creates a giant explosion of dark energy when it impacts an opponent or a solid object. It has a 20% chance of lowering the special defense stat of Mewtwo’s opponents on hit. In smash bros the shadow ball attack moves in a zigzagging pattern and Mewtwo can also charge this attack to increase its size, power, and firing speed. In smash he can also create flurries of weak shadow balls rather than a singular powerful ones during certain throws.

In first movie. Makes small house sized explosion with the attack https://youtu.be/kAuDvXIhwe8?t=186

He deflects and dissipates a team rocket copter energy shot with the move in returns https://youtu.be/aKFwIctfhdo?t=509

Psychic
Used by: Adv, Movie 1, movie16, game
Move type: Psychic
Move cat: Special
Move power: 90
Move accuracy:100%
Move effectiveness: 2x damage against fighting and poison type enemies. ½ times damage against psychic and steal type enemies. 0x damage against dark type enemies.

More or less the Pokémon version of telekinesis (The ability to manipulate or move matter with one’s mind). It has a 10% chance of lowering an opponent’s special defense stat when used on them in any fashion.

Mewtwo can use this ability in several different ways, although he uses primarily to grab and throw objects or opponents. The exact limit of the Weight he can grab is unclear, but he’s easily lifted herds of toros, humans, giant Pokémon like garados and lifted his entire clone army on his own with little effort.

Most impressively in prologue to the awakening Mewtwo also lifted a massive cone shaped volume of water to put out a forest fire, which when compare to his height, would probably could have contained several 100 if not a few thousand tons of water.

In terms of grabbing distance Mewtwo has displayed the ability to grab things from miles away in Mewtwo returns. For example he grabs and stabilizes a bush being thrown about by a storm, easily from over a few miles away in returns.

Mewtwo can also use psychic abilities to lift and propel himself at high speeds in the air to fly. How fast he can go is unknown, but even when in normal form Mewtwo could clearly fly across several sections of a large city when fighting Genesect in Mewtwo’s awakening, signifying he can perhaps reach a few 100 miles per hour in normal form. When in mega Y form (a super transformation explained farther below) the world from Mewtwo’s perspective also slows down considerably. Additionally at the end of the movie Mewtwo flies into space while in mega Y form, and while the entire ascent isn’t shown, Mewtwo visually gets at least a few thousand feet into the air after a few seconds, getting into the earths outer atmosphere.
In addition to grabbing and throwing things Mewtwo can also use psychic powers to crush things as well or cause explosions.

During his fight with mew in the 1st move Mewtwo could also make kamehama-ish beams of physic energy to send at opponents. Mewtwo can use his psyche powers to manipulate the environment around him, moving storm clouds to create massive hurricanes.

Mewtwo can also use physic to deflect attacks. He’s done so with electricity from magnamite in move 1 and with the Fire of Ash’s charizard.

-Mewtwo was able to control his custom pokeballs and send them after dozens of Pokémon in different directions in movie 1 as well.

Teleport
Used by: Movie 1, Smash,
Move type: Psychic
Move cat: Status
Move power:-
Move accuracy:-
Move effectiveness:-

Mewtwo has the ability to instantaneously teleport himself, objects and people over vast distances. In the anime, his mastery of this technique is immense, being able to transport dozens of people, Pokémon, machinery and even an entire landmasses to different places in a matter of seconds. The distance of which he can teleport is unknown, but it the games the move teleport takes you to the last pokemon center you visited, which logically can extend across an entire region when taken to extremes.

Mewtwo can apparently teleport objects to his position. For example he summons his custom made pokeballs to his side in the first movie.

He also transported the entire lake of serenity and an island underground in returns. The teleportation beam here was about half the size of the entire mountain of the background in width. He also specifically targeted humans like ash to bring underground with him, while leaving the rockets and their machines above.

Counter
Used by: Movie 1
Move type: Fighting
Move cat: Physical
Move power:-
Move accuracy:100%
Move effectiveness:2x damage against dark, ice, normal, rock and steel types.1/2x damage against bug, flying, fairy, poison and psychic types.0x damage against ghost types.

A fighting type move the puts up a flat barrier that instantly stops all physical attacks and reflects them back at the sender with twice the initial power received. It is important to note that this move changes the properties of the attack it defends against, always giving the resulting move a fighting/physical attribute.

Aura sphere
Used by: Moviw 16, game
Move type: Fighting

Move cat: Status
Move power:-
Move accuracy:100%
Move effectiveness:-

A normal type move where Mewtwo looks into the eyes of his opponent and disables their ability access to one of their special attacks. When it comes to disabling attacks the move has an 80% chance of working. In super smash bros the move simply stuns opponents for a short period of time.

Psystrike
Used by: Movie 16, Smash, Game
Move type: Psychic
Move cat: Special
Move power: 100
Move accuracy:100%
Move effectiveness: 2x damage against fighting and poison type enemies. ½ times damage against psychic and steal type enemies. 0x damage against dark type enemies.

A psychic attack and the signature move of Mewtwo. In movie 16 it comes out as an expanding sphere of psychic energy that strikes opponents on all sides. In the games Mewtwo surrounds his opponents in spheres of energy, and collapses it on them. In smash it’s a more traditional giant energy ball-ish projectile move, though it seems to directly strike the users mind/head in some wat. Pokken portrays the move similarly to the main games.

The power of the attack is calculate based on Mewtwo’s special attack stat, but does physical damage that effects an opponent’s normal defense stat.

Learned moves
Given Mewtwo has had trainers in the past and the fact he himself is much smarter than the average Pokémon, it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to know some TM moves his species can’t learn naturally(in fact technically his species can only learn Shadow ball through tm and that’s one of his signature attacks).

You can see all his learned moves here

Some notable learned moves include Trick room allows the Slower Pokémon to act first. Skill swap switches “abilities” with the target (not sure what that would mean for this fight). Embargo prevents the use of held items. Substitute sacrifices health to make a decoy.

Additional and Misc moves
Several Mewtwo’s like Smash and Pokken amplify physical attacks with psychic abilities.

The Mewtwo in Pokémon stadium knows the moves psychic, blizzard, thunderbolt , Amnesia and rest.

Pokémon conquest gave him the abilities Life force, which restores health slowly overtime.
In Pokémon ranger guardian signs Mewtwo could also use some sort of beam attack. https://youtu.be/4KxSaM0N1HM?t=138  and https://youtu.be/4KxSaM0N1HM?t=220 He could make two beams at once and aim them in different directions as well.

After being powered up in ranger he could make holograms of himself, that could explode into shadow projectiles https://youtu.be/4KxSaM0N1HM?t=483

In Pokémon ranger he also make splurges of physic energy balls and make them encircle himself to keep people at bay https://youtu.be/4KxSaM0N1HM?t=147

Finally Mewtwo has been shown to transport himself between pocket dimensions of a sort in rangers. He does this at 1:51. At 7:20 Mewtwo also shows the ability to send others into this dimension. At 14:50 the character Rand even describes it as a "strange pitch black place" and 15:01 he even says that Mewtwo came in to take him out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KxSaM0N1HM

Mind control/manipulation
Used by: Movie 1
Mewtwo has exhibited several different forms of mind control/manipulation during his appearances.

-He erased the short term memory of ash and the other trainers in movie 1. He also teleported them across the sea and back to a poke center. He does this pretty casually. https://youtu.be/Sc2faV1ogSI?t=630

- Controls a nurse joy in movie 1. It should be noted her mind was completely subverted. She was not aware of what was going on, her surroundings or what Mewtwo was commanding her to do during her mind control stint(though it should be mentioned Mewtwo said he also cleansed he of those memories). https://youtu.be/bsGvbL-CBRA?t=616

-Erased the memories of Giovani and his entire team rocket team in returns. Personally I would believe he erased ALL of their memories regarding him over the last several years. Giovani was obsessed with Mewtwo and power, and clearly would have continued to search for him if he knew about his existence. Even given the animes lack of consistency, this would have been mentioned at some point in the last 2 decades of run time. https://youtu.be/NL4dLQB7-wk?t=257

-In the above link he also appears to command or control thousands of Butterfree at once in order to get them to use stun spore on team rocket.

Mind reading
Used by: Movie 16

Mewtwo can read the mind and find out the history of those around him. He does this to a Genesect in movie 16, where he uses such powers to get detailed info on the genesect’s time period, their restoration and abilities given to them through human alteration. https://youtu.be/-P2aIPDwwEY?t=284

Psychic sense
Used by:Adv
In the manga Mewtwo was also able to search out for and detect the general position of some humans he was looking for with his psychic powers.

Mega evolution
For some unexplained reason Mewtwo is one of the only pokemon in the series who can somehow activate and utilize a Mega evolution(basically a super transformation that increase his stats) without the aid of a mega stone, or trainer. Mewtwo has two Mega evolutions at his disposal, Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, which focus on speed and power respectively. Out of the two only Mega Mewtwo Y has been confirmed to be usable by Mewtwo on his own, although it is implied in the opening of “the strongest mega evolution part one” that a Mewtwo that can access the Mega x form freely might exist.

While in Mega Y form Mewtwo’s attack stats increase by about 36%, special attack by 36%, special defense by 33%,speed by 7% and defense gets lowered by 22%.

In Mega x form Mewtwo’s attack stat increase by 72%, and his defense by 10%.

-Mewtwo can freely access his mega Y evolution with NO help in Movie 16. He also transformations into his mega y form during his boss fight in super mystery dungeon. He also uses it towards the end of said story mode on his own.

- A mega Mewtwo X and Y appear at the start of “the strongest mega evolution” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqvU3w3nvoc    On another note the fight shortly before they show up, really demonstrates the explosive power mega Pokémon can have

Mechanical knowledge
Mewtwo at some point self-trained himself in the art of machinery in the original anime series. He’s shown to have built large complexes form himself, monitoring systems, his own variations of pokeballs, cloning machines and more.

Abilities
Innate skills or attributes that are always present in Pokémon and give them offensive, defensive or supportive abilities that help them in battle.
Pressure
A special ability that causes Mewtwo to emit an aura that intimidates and weakens his opponents. When exposed to it an opponents stamina becomes significantly reduced and it takes about 2x as much effort for them to use special moves/abilities as normal. It only activates in Mewtwo’s default form.
Unnerve
Hidden ability that makes foes unable to eat berries.
Insomnia
A special ability that prevents Mewtwo from being forcibly put to sleep. It’s only activated during his Mega Y form.
Steadfast
A special ability that increases Mewtwo’s speed when he’s “flinched”(basically stunned by a powerful attack). It only activates in his Mega X form.

Elemental affinities
Both Mewtwo’s normal form and Mega Y form are psychic types. This means he takes ½ damage from other psychic attacks and fighting type moves game mechanics wise. He also takes 2x damage from dark, bug, and ghost type moves.

His Mega X form is a duel fighting/psychic type. This means he takes ½ damage from fighting and rock type moves. He also takes 2x damage from flying, ghost and fairy type moves.

Stab
All moves in Pokémon get a 50% increase in power if they are used by a Pokémon that has the same typing as the move itself. This means all Mewtwo’s psychic type moves naturally gain 50% more power than normal in all of Mewtwo’s forms and that the Mega x form gives a 50% increase in power for fighting type moves.

Shadow Mewtwo

A new form Mewtwo got in Pokken fighters. It was the result of him being forcibly possessed by a “shadow synergy stone”, an evil object that draws power from less malevolent synergy stones used by trainers to power-up there Pokémon in the ferum league and “gia power” from the earth itself. Given Mewtwo didn’t attain this form of his own will, it’s unclear if it should be considered a standard part of his arsenal. Likewise he was purified of this form and returned to normal at the end of Pokken, the only game where he has taken on this form thus far.

This form gives Mewtwo a massive boost in stats, as well as a new exclusive finishing attack called dark nova. Said Dark nova attack is a Freiza like death ball attack that engulfs a large portion of the earth. https://youtu.be/lX4JX-OgZIg?t=118

Used protect to block an attack from Genesect that could eat through several layers of stone and concrete in movie 16 https://youtu.be/-P2aIPDwwEY?t=1247

Got flung away by Giovani’s machines with enough force to shatter stone in returns https://youtu.be/aKFwIctfhdo?list=PL4vyR0dllAb4RziiUbte0ObyaYX24rhO_&t=570

Managed to survive a few minutes in contact with devices specifically designed to “harness” his abilities in returns. Not only does this inflict massive pain but at Giovani implies it was supposed to alter his brain waves to make him more compliant. Also broke out of it on his own https://youtu.be/4suHuxrxT7A?list=PL4vyR0dllAb4RziiUbte0ObyaYX24rhO_&t=31

Blocks explosion the diameter of a large skyscraper from Genesect in movie 16 https://youtu.be/-P2aIPDwwEY?t=2448

Tanks lasers, while already injured in prologue  https://youtu.be/_I84kT1LYVs?t=945

Survived atmospheric reentry in movie 16. https://youtu.be/-P2aIPDwwEY?t=3473  He was slowed down and caught in a large body of water by Ash and co before he hit the ground, though it’s worth pointing out at the speed they were falling , even the water cushion made for them should have been as deadly as falling on concrete. There’s actually even a trope discussing this http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SoftWater

Lived on mount quena, a place with turbulent weather and high altitude that make it difficult for normal humans to live there for long time periods. https://youtu.be/Efl3K9VHATU?list=PL4vyR0dllAb4RziiUbte0ObyaYX24rhO_&t=747

Tanks a fire blast from charizard in his normal and X form during origins https://youtu.be/jz4tDkm_9Uo?t=79 https://youtu.be/jz4tDkm_9Uo?t=184

Survived a falcon punch and got imbedded in rock by mega charizard. Not he didn’t get knocked out, and could have used recover to continue the battle if Red hadn’t ended the fight via pokeball https://youtu.be/jz4tDkm_9Uo?t=246

Strength
Cuts through long metal arms with the spoon weapon in adv http://2.p.mpcdn.net/7855/122533/6.jpg andhttp://2.p.mpcdn.net/7855/122533/7.jpg (v 24 c 285)

Uses phywave spoon to smash through stone in adv http://2.p.mpcdn.net/352588/630859/8.jpg

His psychic spoon could cut through the entire silp co tower in one swing in the manga http://2.p.mpcdn.net/7855/122536/18.jpg

Can lift a few tons if not a few hundred/thousand tons of water with psychic. https://youtu.be/_I84kT1LYVs?t=1012

Easily throws an Onix with physic. It weighs about 500 pounds https://youtu.be/sUptSFif6ps?t=435

Lifts all of his clones and carries them away in move 1 https://youtu.be/Sc2faV1ogSI?t=569

Lifts and immobilizes an entire herd of torus(at least 10)  in movie 1 https://youtu.be/sUptSFif6ps?t=445

He blew up the entire surface of the facility of the island he was created on in movie 1.Note the complex Mewtwo rebuilds on it himself is huge and at least a half mile to a few miles in diameter.  https://youtu.be/sUptSFif6ps?t=292

Blew up Giovani’s pallet base to the point of near disintegration movie 1. How the fuck Giovani survived I don’t know, but the explosion was about half the diameter of one of the mountains in the background. Note this was a pretty causal anger fueled attack. https://youtu.be/sUptSFif6ps?t=559

You can see the above base getting destroyed from a different angle in the main anime series here https://youtu.be/D2soTaLfbOY?t=161

Was unfazed from beings grabbed by dozens of mechanical arms in movie 1 and proceeded to destroy them all with psychic https://youtu.be/sUptSFif6ps?t=263

Easily created a giant hurricane with his physic powers in movie 1. Also was able to effect the ferocity of the waves near his fortress with little effort.

Along with Deoxysis and Rayquaza were able to use their own power to prevent the tree of life from leaving the planet in Pokémon mystery dungeon. Some details of the feat and its implications could be debated, but it’s impressive based on looks alone. https://youtu.be/sgXxSRl4yAU?t=1767
Teleported the lake of mt quena. Said lake is comparable to real world lakes weighing 385,000,000 million tons.
Speed
Seems to have a match cone after flying away from Giovani’s destroyed base in the anime https://youtu.be/D2soTaLfbOY?t=161

Flies across a city and blocks and attack from a Genesect, after it already fired in movie 16 https://thumbs.gfycat.com/ZigzagPositiveGalah-size_restricted.gif

Flies over several city blocks while fighting Genesect in normal form in movie 16 https://thumbs.gfycat.com/PotableFavoriteGnat-size_restricted.gif

In the opening of movie 16 it easily outflies several bird Pokémon in its normal form. Including a swallow, Braviary and Staraptor, swanna and unfeasent https://youtu.be/-P2aIPDwwEY?t=90

Lifted 4 Genesect out of the way of an oncoming avalanche the second it started in movie 16. https://thumbs.gfycat.com/NippyGorgeousAbyssiniangroundhornbill-size_restricted.gif

Easily avoids attacks from 3 opponents, and deafest them simply by crashing into them in prologue https://youtu.be/_I84kT1LYVs?t=765 and https://youtu.be/_I84kT1LYVs?t=956

Files 1000s of feet into the air and outer space within seconds while carrying red Genesect, arguably surpassing escape velocity(25,000 mph) https://thumbs.gfycat.com/CreativeThoughtfulBangeltiger-size_restricted.gif

Shadow mewtwo can fly into the outer atmosphere of the planet in a few seconds, suggesting at least relativistic speeds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVhCNKCDn1M&feature=youtu.be

Training/experince
Managed to fight off lances Aerodactly and two Dragonairs in v 7 c 80 of the adv manga http://mangapark.me/manga/pokemon-adventures-1/s5/v7/c80  Keep in mind ONE of Lance’s pokemon could destroy a city, and Mewtwo had to fight 2 and Aerodactly(he also had a big handicap keeping him from using his full power at the time)  http://2.p.mpcdn.net/352588/630889/3.jpg v5 c61

The wild Mewtwo in origins easily curbed reds entire team, including articuno, before going down to mega charizard. Even then the fight didn’t actually end in knockout, but capture. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0purbwzs4U

According to the birth of Mewtwo radio drama, Mewtwo spent most of his days fighting wild and trained Pokémon when still taking team rockets orders, most likely meaning he has a fair amount of training experience. http://www.rigelatin.net/oldcopycat/birthofmewtwomain.html

Actually created a plan to take over/destroy the world in movie 1 and would have succeeded in it if he hadn’t willingly decided to stop.

Devised a plan to get himself out of the M2 bind armor in the Pokémon adventures manga. http://2.p.mpcdn.net/7855/122535/19.jpg  http://2.p.mpcdn.net/7855/122535/20.jpg v 24 c 287

Was the final boss in Pokémon puzzle league, showing he has some quick wit and thinking skills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3BtpE7FqX8

Appears as a final opponent in Pokémon stadium 1 and 2.

He mentions that he gained knowledge on Pokémon physiology from the brainwashed nurse joy in the first movie and given the fact he successfully cloned multiple Pokémon on his own, probably has a decent understanding of biology.

Worked with a fairly smart trainer named blain in the manga for a time.

Could out physic an alakazam https://youtu.be/sUptSFif6ps?t=464

Misc notes
Mewtwo is a bit of a blood knight, and seems to enjoy fighting as well as having great confidence in his strength .For example he says fighting will be a pleasure for deoxyis in adventures http://2.p.mpcdn.net/7855/122537/4.jpg v 25 ch 291

His mystery dungeon description mentions longing to demonstrate his power to the world. Various pokedex entries talk about it only thinking about defeating it’s foes, conserving energy for battle and being particularly savage.

That being said some appearances are a bit more tempered. Movie 16 Mewtwo goes out of the way to avoiding fighting anybody and movie 1 Mewtwo is increasingly nonviolent in returns.  A big example for the latter being the fact he clearly could have flown out and exploded team rocket to shreds  before they reached his island but didn’t. He also chose just to erase their memories of him at the end of the movie, rather than doing something more debilitating.

Summary
Advantages
  • Mewtwo has a lot of defensive abilities at his disposal. Barrier, the 100% attack blocking protect, his own psychic abilities, counter.
  • The barrier move in particular is a great combination of defense and offense at once.
  • Has several ways to prevent himself from getting status affects or having his stats tampered with.
  • Incredibly smart for a Pokémon, most likely smarter than most humans as well.
  • Decent amount of fighting experience.
  • Most of his attacks have very good accuracy and some can’t miss their target.
  • Psychic is very powerful and has lots of varied uses.
  • Psychic spoon is a good melee weapon, has great cutting power, and very good range.
  • Has good move coverage and has at least one attack he can use to do neutral(1x) damage against most Pokémon types.
  • Can remove the immunity of dark type enemies to his psychic attacks, or use shadow ball to take down other psychics fairly easily.
  • A good amount of his attacks lower opponent’s stats or can give them status ailments like confusion.
  • Can disable an opponent’s special abilities or psionically suppress them.
  • Can teleport himself or others long distances to avoid attacks.
  • Can heal himself.
  • Can at least move at least 25,000 MPH, has often caused destruction comparable to small islands or complexes, and has fought and matched opponents with city destroying power in his base form.
  • Most of his attacks take advantage of his incredibly high special attack stat, which with added stab, gives him some of the most powerful offensive moves in the Pokémon series.
  • Can access his Mega Mewtwo Y form on his own(somehow). I assume you guys will just say f@#k it, and give him the x transformation as well.
  • Me first lets him copy an opponent’s move before they use it and send it back with 150% the power.
  • Incredibly fast and agile.
  • Can sense the position of opponents.
  • Mind manipulation powers could theoretically be very easily abused.
  • The combination of psyche up, guard swap and power swap could be broken under the right situation.
  • Pressure makes opponents tire out twice as fast.
  • He technically has the highest base stats of all Pokémon in Mega x or Y form besides mega rayquaza(though some Pokémon like arceus have better narrative feats).

Disadvantages
  • Mewtwo’s defense stat is low relatively to the rest of his stats. Granted they’re still pretty high for a normal Pokémon, but still.
  • When you look at individual Mewtwo, he’s significantly less powerful.
