  • Weight: 139.0 lbs. | 63.0 kg

  • Likes: Her friends, meditation, Gossip Girl

  • Dislikes: Trigon, losing control (cuz Trigon), reused plot points (also Trigon)

Long ago, the demon lord Trigon was sealed away for causing destruction. While the devil himself wasn’t capable of escape by himself, his followers sought to bring back who they worshipped. They would trick many, many women going through tough times to join their church of Satanism, using them as a summoner for Trigon. This would cause them all to fall for an illusion of the demon lord, seeing him as a handsome and kind man. This facade would result in every victim falling in love and bearing the child of Trigon. His plan for unsealment was to use his offspring as a way to reach Earth, allowing him to roam free once again. But all of these women wouldn’t allow themselves to kickstart the apocalypse. They would kill their children, and then soon after themselves, preventing Trigon from succeeding.

However, Trigon would eventually meet a woman from Gotham named Angela Roth. Like many before her, she was suffering from hardships to the point where she was indoctrinated into the church. After her unfortunate meeting with Trigon, the devil knew this time would be a success, as Angela was too weak to kill her own child. But this growing fear and despair caused her to want to die so badly that she resorted to drugs to end everything once and for all. However, Angela in her confusion grabbed the hand of a person coming through a mysterious light. Enveloped and warped away, Angela arrived in Azarath, a dimension that exists between all other dimensions. The people of this world were pacifists who taught the ways of controlling one’s emotions. Angela would then go by a new name: Arella.

Instead of killing Arella or her child, the goal was to teach the child of Trigon the ways of their society. However, the child’s birth would cause Azarath to tumble toward fear and destruction. Despite this, the child was not slain. This was Raven, and she was taught to control her emotions to prevent Trigon from taking a hold of her since she was young to not summon him. Trained by the Azarath’s priests and the living goddess Azar, Raven became a powerful empath. She hid her emotions and submerged them deep down within herself. Azar would die of old age when Raven was only 10-years-old.

At 18, Raven sensed the return of Trigon, but when the priests of Azarath ignored her, Raven took it upon herself to find a group of heroes on Earth to defeat her father. She first went to the Justice League, but she was untrustworthy to them due to the evil felt within her, so Raven decided to form her team to take down Trigon: the Teen Titans. This group of heroes would end up being able to seal away Trigon, but his influence would still affect Raven heavily. While defeated for now, Trigon could return at any moment should Raven lose control of her emotions, which has been a constant threat she and her friends have had to deal with. Raven would eventually fall under his influence, but she and her team were able to obliterate Trigon once again at the cost of her disappearing without a trace from her team.

However, Raven has returned on multiple occasions from dying due to the power she possesses being wanted by others, like Brother Blood or whenever Trigon returned. She’s found her place in the world as a hero who uses her powers to save others alongside a new family in the form of the Titans.

  1. Are you planning on making a q&a for this battle? It's cool if you aren't, but I think this matchup could really benefit from a q&a to clear a lot of stuff up. I've seen people on reddit claiming that this episode claims that "Raven solos pretty much all of Marvel" and the distinction between Raven scaling to Trigon and Spectre, while Phoenix blatantly scales far above similar powerhouses like the Beyonder and Living Tribunal. Really curious on your opinion on these if you're able to give them, but if you're not planning on making a q&a no pressure, I'm just curious.

    1. It depends on what the people who researched the ep want to do. The q n as aren't technically required by any kind of contract. They simply didn't feel like making one.

    2. Their response is "Phoenix lost to a tiger doesnt matter"

    3. Yeah, you should ask the people to do a Q and A.
