Character Analysis: Princess Sally Acorn

Note: This is a composite of PreGen, PostGen, and SATAM Sally Acorn

 Background

The heir to the Kingdom of Acorn. In Satam and the Archie comics, it’s generally explained that the evil “Dr.Robotnik” came to the Kingdom of Acorn’s capital mobotropolis as a refugee. He then stole “robotization” tech from Sonic’s uncle Chuck, which he then used to enslave the populous and take over the planet. Sally essentially acts as a leader of rebels called the freedom fighters, whose main goal is to take him down and establish order. In most continuities, she’s eventually successful, and Mobotropolis is eventually returned to its former glory. She also acts as Sonic’s love interest in a lot of the media she is in, and actually marries him to become the planet's queen in several possible timelines.




Abilities

Deep power stone abilities

Ancient stone tablets that grant the user incredible powers and destructive ability. Sonic and Sally used them to finish off Robotnik’s empire at the end of the original SATAM cartoon. They’re stated to have 10,000 times the power of a normal power ring, and unlike power rings most of the power they grant is permanent. Outside general buffs like strength or Sonic like super speed, they grant the ability to project force fields and fly.

Arsenal

Ring blades

Laser blades created by Dr.Ellidy in the post gen Archie series. They can be used to cut through metal and deflect laser blasts. Sally can morph the shape of the weapons to form a broadsword and a shield.

Extreme gear


Hovering skateboards originally introduced in the Sonic Riders game. Sally has a collapsible one she can wear on her backpack and take out as a form of transportation.



Lasso gun

Sally has a lasso hook gun, which can be used to create ropeways she can swing from or climb up.


Power rings/Red rings

Magical rings that are typically used by Sonic as an amp for his power. While Sally can’t tap into their power to amp herself, power rings do help combat mind control or break down energy barriers on their own. Red rings are essentially just power rings but stronger.

Slingshot

A small slingshot that comes with various kinds of ammo. Sally can shoot non-explosive metal projectiles, explosive paintballs to bling opponents or miniature grenades. Grenades can also be thrown by hand of course.


Laser gun

A laser gun that can be used to attack enemies from a distance.


Paralyzers

Two defibrillator like devices that can shock opponents.

Specialized rings used for transportation. They can take a person anywhere on a given planet and if charged enough can travel through dimensions as well.



Sword of Acorns



An heirloom of the house of Acorn. The sword of Acorns was created using the last remaining remnants of the source of all, a source of energy used as the building block for Sonic’s universe. The sword grants the user enhanced magical abilities such as flight, sword beams, and clairvoyance. The sword can also be used to weaken dark magic users like Ixis Naugus, purge the effects of mind control, and open tears in dimensional walls. The sword has a mind of its own and can act to protect the user. It can also heal wounds and allow a person to read the minds of others. Its most potent ability is to siphon power from a target and add it to the user. An ability that has been used on the chaos energy fueled god Enerjak twice. Sally has extra ease in using it due to once becoming one with the source of all herself.

A complementing artifact to the Sword of Acorns. It grants additional magical power and can undo transmutation on the user when combined with the sword.

Nicole the holo Lynx

A sentient AI companion used by Sally for various types of reconnaissance or logistical backup. In pre-gen Archie, Nicole was created by the scientist Rotor far into the future and then sent back in time to a child Sally. In post gen, Archie Nicole was made by trying to digitize the consciousness of the daughter of a scientist named Dr.Elliday. Nicole normally exists in a handheld device Sally carries around but can transfer herself to other electronic devices or into the wireless “cyberworld” if needed. In most continuities, Nicole creates a lynx-like avatar for herself so she can better fit in with her companions.


Communication

Nicole can be used to speak to other electronic devices over long distances, scan satellite transmissions, and track the locations of allies. She can also strengthen wireless signals and descramble voice calls.


Hacking

Nicole can hack into various machinery either via a wired or wireless connection.


Senses

Nicole has many sensors that allow her to give feedback to Sally on her surroundings. This includes noticing altered weather patterns, locating nearby enemies, and scanning energy signatures. She can even create maps of nearby locations or analyze the abilities of new opponents.


Planning

Nicole can calculate and help plan various freedom fighter activities. This includes calculating potential scenarios for villains, calculating escape routes, analyzing data, or coming up with plans of attack.


Holographic projection

Nicole can create intangible holographic images. This includes images of herself or pictures for her allies to look at. She can also create overlays for nearby traps or illusions to trick attacking opponents.


Translation

Nicole has the ability to translate other languages via her internal database.

Database

Nicole contains a massive royal archive of information. This includes data files on specific people, astronomy, history, and locations.


Hacking protection

Nicole has numerous protections against hacking, both mundane and magical. Due to her futuristic tech neither the present Rotor nor Robotnik could hack into her in pre-gen. She was also able to enhance her defenses to block the techno magical abilities of the Iron Queen  Pre-Gen. Even when affected by genesis wave energy post-gen, she was still functional and simply needed to release it to other people.


Nanite manipulation

In pre-gen Archie, Nicole served as the control program for new Mobotropolis and could manipulate the nanotechnology that comprised the city. This included making shields, weapons, or misc constructs.


Physical manifestation

By tapping into a powerful enough energy source Nicole can make her holographic projections tangible. The most common method of doing this is either by utilizing the power of a power ring or tapping into new Mobotropolis’s power grid. While Nicole will typically just use this ability to manifest herself in the real world, she can also create force fields and various weapons like lances or the ring tethers from knuckles Chaotix. She can also create energy blasts and fly.

A super form of sorts Nicole can go into when tapping into the power of a red ring. In this form, all her powers are greatly enhanced.

Sally has fought and landed blows on Metal Sonic and Scourge, both of who should be equal in power with Sonic himself due to essentially being copies of him. She’s also directly fought/landed hits on Sonic on a few occasions

Sally has kept up with the Suppression Squad from Anti-Mobius and should be on a similar level of power to post gen Chaos Zero, given Sonic canonically fought him in said timeline.




Sword of acorns scaling

The sword of acorns at full strength is a “super form” level artifact. Being able to drain the power of multiple chaos emeralds/depower entities like Enerjack. For comparison, Enerjak has easily held his own against Super Sonic and even beat him in a fair fight during one timeline.


Experience

  • Acted as the de facto leader of the freedom fighters for years

  • Helped rescue her father from the Zone of silence

  • Aided in the takedown or defeat of Eggman multiple times in 3 different continuities

  • Pissed of legions of Sonamy shippers

  • Saved the planet Mobius from being hit with a worldwide roboticizer

  • Aided in repelling Scourge’s invasion of Mobius

  • Helped take back Mobotropolis from the Iron Queen

  • Rescued Nicole from the cyber villain phage

  • Aided in restoring the shattered planet and fighting Dark Gaia’s spawns

  • Aided in helping the Sega and Capcom heroes fight Sigma


Weaknesses

Sally doesn’t have many weaknesses outside of generally focusing more on strategy than combat, but Nicole does have a few kinks in her armor. Nicole’s nanites can be destroyed with transmutative abilities and overclocking herself for too long can destroy her computer storage device.


The Sword of acorns protective abilities also don’t affect humans the same way as mobians, albeit this is hardly relevant in most fights
