Prediction blog:Eggman vs Wily(Feat Ultraguy/Strunton)

Background

Eggman

As a child, Dr. Ivo Robotnik looked up to his grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik, and believed him to be a hero that had done his best to help humanity. Thus, he decided to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and became a scientist himself. However, Eggman would become obsessed with the idea of an entire planet under his control and would dedicate the rest of his life to conquering the world. On his question to world domination, Eggman would meet the one and only Sonic the Hedgehog. While the nature of their meeting is unknown, the two would become rivals, with Sonic proving himself to be Robotnik's greatest enemy. No matter how many times Sonic thwarts his plans however, Eggman remains persistent and continues to create machines that push the Blue Blur to his limits to this day.

Wily

A scientist who specializes in robotics. He used to be good friends with a fellow roboticist named  Dr. Tomas light but had a falling with him after feeling like Lights projects were receiving favoritism from the scientific community. Wily his resentment and need for acknowledgment steadily grew over the years, before he decided to prove his superiority by taking over the earth and leading its society by force. In his original appearance, he steals and reprograms robotic masters created by Dr.Light and uses them for this conquest. Though in later games he either creates his own robots or steals them from other outside sources.

    Other Badniks
Eggman has made many Badniks over the years, with each possessing traits similar to the ones above. The following is a list of every Badnik made throughout the years.

A list of every badnik found through the Sonic games

    Infinite
An anthropomorphic jackal that aided Eggman during the events of Sonic Forces. After an encounter with Shadow the Hedgehog, Infinite chose to obtain a Phantom Ruby prototype to become stronger. With the Phantom Ruby prototype, Infinite can perform abilities similar to that of the Phantom Ruby itself.

    Null Space
A supposedly inescapable, closed off pocket dimension created by the Phantom Ruby. Infinite can send others to Null Space by creating a void that pulls others into it. While it's never explained exactly how Sonic and the Avatar were able to escape Null Space, it's likely that their Double Boost just tore a hole in space-time that allowed them to escape.

    Virtual Reality Projections
As stated before, the Phantom Ruby is capable of creating virtual reality projections with mass and form. According to Shadow the Hedgehog, while the clones are fake, their powers are just as formidable as their real counterparts, which is supported by Sonic's fight with Zavok and Metal Sonic. With the Phantom Ruby, Infinite can create an unlimited number of clones of Shadow, Zavok, Metal Sonic, Chaos 0, and himself. Infinite has also used the Phantom Ruby to create a miniature sun powerful enough to wipe out an army.

    Magnetic Field Manipulation
Zavok, which the Phantom Ruby can make clones of, is capable of taking control of other machines via manipulating their magnetic fields. He uses this ability to take control of an army of badniks and Metal Sonic (as seen in the panel above).

    Metal Sonic
Arguably Dr. Eggman's greatest creation. Metal Sonic is another robotic counterpart of Sonic the Hedgehog that exceeded Eggman's expectations in every way. Throughout his appearances, Metal Sonic consistently improves and gains new abilities.

    Copycat

Metal Sonic’s ultimate form after copying the data of Team Sonic, Team Dark, Team Rose, Team Chaotix, and Chaos. In this form, he can keep up with Super Sonic and an empowered Tails and Knuckles, with Eggman still thinking there would be a slim chance of them being able to defeat this mecha dragon. With his massive wings, Metal Overlord can fly. He can ram into enemies, use Crystal Attack, where he forms large chunks of blue crystal and fires them at enemies from his mouth, fire the spikes on his back as homing missiles, like his previous form but he does so at a much higher rate, use his left claws has as missiles that trap enemies in a crystal cage, which is strong enough to hold even Super Sonic, and even use Chaos Control to stop time.

    Super Neo Metal Sonic
A super form Metal Sonic achieves by tapping into the power of the Master Emerald. In this state, Metal Sonic is granted enhanced strength and speed, project golden energy bolts, and electrocute others. Like Super Mecha Sonic, Super Neo Metal Sonic only lasts for a few seconds before expiring.

A helicopter shaped mech. It can fire giant red missiles out its backside and crush opponents with large gears on its underside. It has a second smaller form that can throw gears as a projectile attack, teleport, and enhance its speed/power with the double gear system.

    Wily capsule

An escape capsule that can hitch into various mechs and fighting machines. Collectively they have infrared systems for movement in the dark, energy projectiles, camouflage systems, and bombs.

    Battleships

    Eggman

    Egg Carrier
An aerial fortress piloted by Eggman. The Egg Carrier is equipped with a large front-mounted laser, laser turrets, air mines, and missile launchers.

    Egg Cauldron
A rounded flying fortress piloted by Eggman. The Egg Cauldron fires missiles and sends out robots.

    Egg Fleet
An immense group of battleships. The Egg Fleet is bristling with guns, cannons, and robot armies.

    Death Egg
An egg-shaped space station created by Eggman. The Death Egg is the largest airship Eggman has ever created. Its hull is covered in laser turrets and its insides are filled with weaponry and traps, like electrical currents, rocket launchers, and laser cannons. It's eyes can fire lasers as well. The Death Egg's most powerful weapon is the Final Egg Blaster, a weapon capable of destroying stars.

    Wily

    Wily castles and stations
Bases Wily can observe the earth and manage his troops from. In some games, they’re ground-based, while in others they may float on the ocean or up in space as stations.

    Wily star

A large orbital base inspired by the death star from star wars. The face has a giant laser cannon built into it, with missile launchers and smaller energy canons surrounding it.

    Scaling

    Eggman

    Sonic the Hedgehog
Obviously Eggman and his forces would scale to their common enemy, Sonic the Hedgehog, as they have consistently fought against and pushed the Blue Blur to his limits. The following are a list of feats Sonic the Hedgehog has performed.

    Super Sonic
Eggman has made his fair share of inventions capable fighting against and even harming Sonic's super form on numerous occasions. Machines like Metal Sonic are also capable of accessing the super forms themselves as well and should be comparable to Super Sonic.

    Misc.

    Wily

    Megaman
Most robot masters and Wily himself have fought on par with Megaman, and should, therefore, scale to his feats. This includes.

    Other

    Accomplishments

    Eggman

    • Possesses an IQ of 300
    • Transformed countless animals into badniks
    • Has seized control over dozens of cities, factories, and lands
    • Created a machine that surpassed Sonic the Hedgehog in every way
    • Has manipulated Knuckles the Echidna multiple times
    • Baited Tails into revealing that a Chaos Emerald was fake
    • Teamed up with Sonic to defeat G-merl and the Deadly Six

    Weaknesses

    Eggman

While Eggman possesses an IQ greater than Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking combined, his hammy, clumsy, egotistical, and insane personality, as well as his obsession of defeating Sonic the Hedgehog, can sometimes overshadow it.

    Wily

Most robot masters and even many of Wily's mech have specific elemental or physical weaknesses. While many of them are not apparent at first glance, Megaman himself takes advantage of this a lot by using the special weapons of a group of robot masters against each other.

    Summary

Will the phantom ruby really work against robots
Yes. Infinite used its power to defeat omega, something that was elaborated on in the comics.

Omega was also present when Infinite made an artificial sun and was going to drop it to kill everyone.

The phantom ruby’s power is also what rebuilt and altered the hard-boiled heavies and repairs them in encore mode

Also worth noting hologram based tech has been used multiple times in the Megaman series itself, albeit on a smaller scale.

Hologram tech has been used to obscure Megaman's vision of a stage https://youtu.be/44vd9gCPSok?t=2234

The final boss of Megaman 2 is based around using holograms https://readcomiconline.to/Comic/Mega-Man/Issue-12?id=20292#24

Astro man also uses hologram tech during his boss fight

    Time travel options
Both characters technically have access to time travel, but in comparison, Eggman’s is probably better. Wily’s time travel is mainly utilized through personal vehicles or devices that probably would not be easy to use on a massive scale in the middle of a fight. In contrast while Eggman also has machines that can be used for time travel, the phantom ruby can and has sent people across dimensions fairly easily and quickly.

    Copying devices
Both characters have devices that can copy and replicate others. Though in comparison again Eggman’s options are probably better. The copy machine in Megaman 1 was likely primarily for mechanical beings, which makes its usage against holograms more up in the air. The device also technically seemed built into Wily’s castle in said game.

In contrast, Eggman’s copy machine is attached to an eggmobile he can fly around on and utilize much more easily. Likewise, the phantom ruby should technically be able to make copies of Wily’s army should infinite decide to.

    Hacking power
So both characters have the power to hack into robots. Wily does this in Megaman IV, taking control over thousands of robots via a radio wave of some sort. He can also technically infect robots with the roboenza virus. The deadly 6 also has the ability to control machinery, which the phantom ruby can replicate via clones.

Anyway comparing the two Eggman probably has the advantage. The roboenza virus is not instant. It took Megaman most of MegaMan 10 to get infected himself, which is a longer period of time than a single fight. The full effects of robenza making robots go crazy also more or less took an entire month, and realistically Wily doesn’t have a way to effectively utilize it against the phantom clones since they aren't robotic.

Than phantom ruby can create thousands of zavok clones, each of which are probably capable of controlling 3 to 4 robots at minimum. So that’s already several enough hacking power to match Wily’s influence and then surpass it to control Wily’s own troops.

General army comparison(in terms of power, organization, hax, ect)
On the whole Dr.Wily’s army is probably smarter and better organized. While the fodder robots on both scientists' sides are pretty much braindead, all robot masters have much higher thinking capabilities compared to say silver sonic, mecha sonic, and so on. Though being fair the clones made by infinite seem to have some level of intelligence so Eggman isn’t far behind. Wily himself is also probably more level headed than Eggman and less prone to fucking himself over in his own games due to mistakes on his part.

In terms of hax Wily technically has a wider variety of it, having a large number of robots with time alteration abilities(time stop/slowing) and absolute zero ice. Eggman’s hax is probably easier to utilize in a large scale fight though. He also has time slowing/alteration on his side, wide-scale gravity manipulation via the ruby, and pretty broken illusions and mind manipulation via the ruby as well.
    Spacial hax and transmutation hax
There’s some arguments you can make for the centaur flash being spatial manipulation, and therefore a hax that can bypass durability. It’s worth pointing out that Shadow technically can have similar claims if you use descriptions of attacks from sonic battle.

    https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/Chaos_Upper

Eggman’s higher end forces should also be immune to transmutation if you wanna interpret concrete shot as that, as Sonic has a transmutation move called ring time, that generally does not work against bosses in the games it appears in.

    Asteroids belt vs non-aggression zone
Two speed feats that we’ve mentioned before. Using both  Rock flying through the asteroid belt is lower on the speed of light-scale, compared to non-aggression.

    Strength & Firepower
Outside of their machines, Wily has little to no display of physical strength. Eggman is strong enough to break down walls and punch away trains with his fists. With their machines, Wily’s Robot Masters are comparable to Duo, whose clash with the Evil Energy generated over 2 exatons of TNT. In comparison, a single Chaos Emerald is powerful enough to generate over 400,000 exatons of TNT, over 200,000x more powerful than Wily’s Robot Masters, and this is the power Eggman uses to power his stronger machinery. Not to mention, Eggman’s higher-ups, like Metal Sonic and Infinite, are capable of fighting on par with the Sonic Hedgehog, who is capable of fighting characters that can utilize the full power of one emerald or more, like Shadow or Chaos. Eggman’s strongest machines are capable of fighting against and even harming Super Sonic himself, so it should go without saying that Eggman’s strongest tech should be leagues above Wily’s.

Wily has boasted that his satellites are powerful enough to “reduce the world to ash,” but even if we were to take this statement at face value, it would pale in comparison to the Final Egg Blaster, which is powerful enough to destroy a star cluster in one shot.

    Higher-end power interpretations
Some people have made the argument that Astroman creating a cosmic space during his level in Megaman and Bass should be a solar system level feat. Doing that we can pretty easily scale super form level characters to say the power of the stars, Solaris,time-eater, ect all who have universal abilities.
    Other misc points
Both Bass and metal sonic can copy abilities from opponents. But Meta sonic can do this from a distance.

    Verdicts

    Strunton
So I think Eggman wins. While Wily’s army would start off being the more versatile of the two, Eggman’s Cloning Device and Metal Sonic would help turn the tides, as both are capable of perfectly replicating the abilities of others. Even if we were to go with the interpretation of Metal Sonic only being capable of copying abilities one at a time, the Phantom Ruby can create an army of Metal Sonics almost instantly, meaning versatility will eventually fall in Eggman’s favor.

Zavok and Wily’s hacking device are capable of taking control of other robots on a similar scale, but Eggman can create an army of Zavoks with the Phantom Ruby, likely giving him superior hacking power. And unlike Wily, Eggman’s army isn’t solely composed of machinery, and it’s unlikely Wily’s device would be able to control Phantom Ruby clones. Wily’s Roboenza virus takes around a month to take full control of other machines, making its use in a one on one highly ineffective. At best, the Roboenza could maybe make Eggman’s machines malfunction during the course of the fight, but the Phantom Ruby has repaired broken machinery before. Unlike Wily, Eggman has ways to remove Wily’s forces from the battlefield, such as Null Space or the Twilight Cage, potentially turning the fight to Eggman and his forces vs a lone Wily.

But most importantly, Eggman’s power surpasses Wily’s. In terms of strength and firepower, Wily’s forces scale to Duo, who is powerful enough to generate over 2 exatons of TNT. In comparison, Eggman’s higher tiers are comparable to the power of a Chaos Emerald, which can generate 400,000 exatons of TNT, making them over 200,000x more powerful than Wily, and this is without factoring in Eggman’s forces comparable to Super Sonic himself. Wily has boasted that his satellites were powerful enough to “reduce the world to ash,” but even if we were to take this claim at face value, it pales into comparison to the Final Egg Blaster, which is powerful enough to destroy stars in one shot.

    Ultraguy
Ok so I think this fight is pretty easy to figure out.

The phantom ruby alone pretty much gives Eggman every advantage he needs and covers all his weaknesses. That’s basically it.

The holograms from the ruby likely can’t be hacked, and can create tons of Zavok’s that can control machines, allowing for Eggman to take control of Wily’s forces. This also means he can take control of any clones Wily creates.

While Eggman’s low/mid-end badniks pale in comparison to the robot masters in terms of special abilities, the ruby can make 100s of metal sonics, which can copy weapons from enemy robots, allowing Eggman to eventually outmatch Wily’s variety. He also has a cloning device he can use to copy robots or beings to fight for him more directly.

Wily’s high-end troops are probably about equal to Eggman’s mid-end in terms of stats(most of our calcs for both are around multi-continent to some level of planet). While his “Super level” mechs are probably several times stronger at minimum. Giving leeway like using solar system level astroman or dwarf star Classic Megaman, makes it pretty easy to just go with universal super forms or scaling the phantom ruby’s power to the Death Eggs. Wily’s forces are probably faster outside of Eggman’s “super” level robots. If we use space rush for speed, we can also probably use non-aggression for sonic, which is a faster feat.

Finally, The ruby can repair broken machines as well. Which is probably enough to counter robenza if it took effect in a short enough period of time at least break machines on Eggman’s side.

The Death egg is stronger than the Wily star, given it can whip out star systems. Eggman probably is a better pilot, and has mechs than Wily. Eggman is stronger than Wily on a physical level.

Outside of that nothing else really factors much given both sides of time travel, time stop, warping ect, and any hax Wily has that Eggman doesn’t can be copied. Individual members like Bass and the real metal sonic aren't huge factors.
