Character Analysis: Beerus

Note: This is kind of a rough combination of the super anime, movies, and manga. While it's true all 3 differ to some degree, all 3 are also based on the same reference notes from Akira. Some are also at different points in the timelines(The manga has continued after the Broly movie for example, with material that will probably be adapted to anime format at some point). That said I'm leaning more on the Super anime + the Broly movie, while anything from the original super movies and the manga is fair game as long as it's reasonable to believe Beerus could perform the feats in them. So something like Goku knowing Hakai in the manga would be a no go, while Beerus being shown to fight Champa or Beerus using ultra instinct(which he was mentioned to be learning in the anime) is fair game.

Background

The god of destruction of the 7th universe in Dragonball. His role in the cosmic hierarchy is to destroy unneeded planets and take out threats to his home dimension. He's fairly inept at performing his duties however  and rarely does anything but eat and sleep all day.  As the god of destruction, he has an overwhelming strength that far surpasses anyone else in his universe. Due to this he became relentlessly bored and sought out a mythical warrior known as the Super Saiyan God as a fighting rival. This search led him to meet series protag Goku, who gained said God form during a battle with Beerus, albeit still lost to him.  Goku's performance was high enough to gain some of Beerus's respect though, and resulted in Goku training under Beerus's own master Whis.

Currently, Beerus is a supporting character in Dragonball. He often does not actively participate in fighting threats the series protags have to deal with. Though this is more out of laziness, rather than a lack of power.

Abilities

Ki/God KI
A kind of metaphysical energy that Dragonball characters use to fight. Ki is essentially a form of life/mental energy that characters can use to enhance their physical attributes, project energy as a form of attack and fly. Due to Beerus's divine nature, he has a special kind of Ki known as “God Ki” which is stronger than Ki normally used by mortals. God Ki is undetectable y those who can normally sense ki, unless the opponent also has God Ki or are divine in nature(though there are a few exceptions).

Destruction energy/Hakai
The energy of destruction is a special form of energy that can reduce almost anything into pure nothingness. This includes erasing physical objects, mortal organisms, Gods, and immaterial substances like souls and Ki. It even affects individual people across timelines and erases them in every timeline they appear(unless they have protection like a time ring or true immortality via the dragon balls). Destruction energy can be utilized as a pulse through an object and as an energy sphere. Some characters besides Beerus have also used destructive energy to form barriers that can erase anything that comes in contact with it. Beerus has a specific technique called “Hakai” that can erase objects at a distance instantly using destruction energy.

Cataclysmic orb
Powerful Ki spheres that destroy anything they touch. According to Beerus the attack can’t be blocked.

Cloning
The ability to make clones of oneself using Ki. Beerus can make around 12 of these at once. Traditionally cloning moves in Dragonball require a person to split their power between each copy.It isn't confirmed Beerus's version of the move works this way, however.

Energy neutralization
Beerus has mastered an ability that allows him to neutralize forms of energy, such as those found in Ki. Naturally, the ability has limits based on his own reflexes and strength.


Pressure points
Beerus has knowledge on pressure point combat. Being able to knock out foes with precision taps to the neck, chest, and other areas of the body.

God of destructions wrath
A barrage of ki blasts that emanate fromBeerus’s body in every direction.

Sphere of destruction
A giant energy sphere resembling a sun. It can easily destroy planets.


Wrath of the god of destruction
Essentially a finger beam attack. It can destroy planets and be used for pinpoint precision from a distance.

Misc

Extreme survivability
Beerus can survive in areas most others can’t for long periods of time. For example fighting underwater and being able to survive in the void of space for fairly long periods.

Prophetic dreams
Beerus has had prophetic dreams in the past. Most commonly about the super Saiyan god.

Ultra instinct
Autonomous ultra-instinct is the ability to move, react, and fight without conscious thought and while moving every part of your body independent of each other. It’s incredibly difficult to learn and while Whis has stated Beerus has been attempting to learn this ability, he is still imperfect at it. Because of this Beerus can only somewhat use ultra instinct "defensively", to avoid blows, rather than using it offensively. Goku himself learned the ability during the tournament of power( using it imperfectly in a defensive variant, and then manifesting the ability as a white-haired transformation when he learned the offensive variant).

Feats

Note: Some of these feats are more impressive due to the Dragonball cosmology. Essentially the "observable universe" is just a single segment of a large microcosm that contains a few other realms such as heaven, hell, and a separate realm called the Kai world.

Beerus has beaten major characters like Majin Buu, Android 18, Tien, Gotenks, God Goku,ect. He’s also fought blue Vegeta in the manga, and implies he’s stronger than SSB 10x Kioken Goku in the anime. It's also confirmed he's still stronger than Freeza. Outside that it’s implied he's around the level or slightly weaker than characters like Vegito, Broly, and Jiren. Specifically, Jiren is stronger than the god of destruction Belmod, who's allegedly physically stronger than Beerus( Belmod supposedly beat Beerus in an arm-wrestling contest). Goku implies Broly may have been stronger than Beerus at full power in the Broly movie. The universe 7 supreme Kai also speculated that Vegito(the fusion of Goku and Vegeta) may have surpassed Beerus's power in their blue form in the manga. Broly likewise puts up a good fight against Gogeta(another variant of the Goku/Vegeta fusion) which lends some credence to that idea if Goku's speculation on Broly's power is accurate.

Ultraguy: Note personally I think they stay vague on Beerus's power so they can keep moving the goalpost, but that's just me.
Anyway various feats from all these characters

Weaknesses

Destruction energy/hakai is a form of hax. However different gods have varying levels of proficiency using it. Freeza was unable to reflect destruction energy from the character Toppo for example, despite being able to do so earlier with energy from an unaffiliated god of destruction. That being said Beerus seems to be a pretty top tier user of the ability.
Ultra instinct also has several drawbacks. In addition to it being difficult to use offensively(something Beerus himself can't do) the precision and strain of movement can take a toll on the body over time.
It’s also stated that Hakai can’t kill immortals in the manga(to be clear this means somebody with"true" immortality, not those who simply live forever). Granted this was never brought up in the anime.
Beerus also has a “life link” with the supreme of the universe 7, and if he dies, so will Beerus

      Wasn't it said that it was Quitela in the manga who beat him at wrestling match and it is only applied in the anime that Belmond may have? Also Beerus did go up against all Gods of Destruction and held his own pretty well. I think it's something to mention...though nothing is probably gonna save Beerus but we will see.

      Hero Energy in Heroes is more similar to stamina then actual energy so.....i don't really think that counts. You could bring up he should scale to Xeno Goku who could hold the entire Multiverse together and defeat Chamel whose presence alone could collapse the entire DB Multiverse and Beat's world. https://m.imgur.com/a/x6pJg

      Good point. I actually forgot about that. Still the "erasing energy" thing seems more like a special card effect then actual ability. Specially since he never really uses it in the DBH's story or ever in general other then in a special card effect. Heroes has alot of crazy stuff in that regard if we are taking actual card effects and taking them seriously.(Since Beerus isn't being composited.....none of this really matters.)

      They are abilities, but used when the team are as a unit.

      As to why it's a "special ability".

      There are abilities from certain characters that are never used for the story, but does that mean they do not possess the abilities?

      Beerus never shows it in the Game's story and neither do we know what it means by "erasing energy" since it is more of a special effect/gameplay mechanic.....for a card game. Not only that Beerus's erases his own energy as well from what the description says. It's like giving 18 her energy absorption from Xenoverse which it isn't something she naturally has and is only used in her gameplay.(and yes i know 18 used it in her Death Battle but even Ben backtracked that.)

      Now there are another abilites that have cutscenes in Heroes like Goku's Life Absorption or Pocket Reality Manipulation(which Beerus is also stated to have). But the point you are making is a special effect with really nothing to it should be given to Beerus when we don't even truly know how it works....alrighty...i'm done here. You make no sense in anyway

      It's a special ability, not an effect and it is only used as a Unit Ability, it is not restricted however.

      It describes it as a unit, refuting what you said.



      There is a huge difference between Energy Absorption and Energy Erasure, albeit not similar.

And even if it is "Energy Erasure" which once again there is nothing showing how it works or what it even does since it is a card game other then a description that has nothing to it since Beerus is not the only character with this kind of "Special Ability"since even characters like Lemo and Krillin can have this as well since it is erasing "Hero Energy" which is a game mechanic and it only decreases energy to match his team's. And still let's put this back out there.....who cares? This version of Beerus is not going to be used and this ability also doesn't help him at all against any of his opponents.

      I said they have similar abilities not the exact same. Krillin and Lemo in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes Big Bang Mission have abilities where they can reduce Hero Energy....which isn't something only Beerus can do.

      Yes, a game mechanic like a power meter or X Ray bar in MK

Where does it show that he can straight up erase energy so they can never use it again?(Because I'm pretty sure you can just regain Hero Energy by playing the "game") If he had it, that would be very useful against someone stronger then him.....but he never uses it in the story or any fight he is in expect in gameplay.

      It's literally you draining their energy, that is not similar to what Beerus is doing.

      Your proposition does not stand since they are both different abilities, and they are utilized diffirently.


      Everything in the game is a game mechanic, so that point is moot.


      It shows it by labelling the unit of the ability.

      In the game, it is reversible, yes, probably due to Super Shenron.


      Yes, he can use it against someone stronger than himself, but obviously not the likes of Zeno, Grand Priest, Zeno's Guards, Zalama or the Angels as the two former would erase him in the spot, the three latter speedbliztes him. It depends on the narrative.

      For the love of god, nothing proves Beerus to be Multiversal or billion times Multiversal. Use feats. Use evidence. Not just "It exists within a tier" or "Goku's multipliers" and stop using Heroes Beerus. We are only focusing on Canon Beerus. Super Beerus.

      What feats? They are very large steps to be anywhere Multiversal or Complex. Goku's multipliers(which SSG and SSB do not have canonical multipliers) likely do not get him there either unless he has any feats of him doing such or something even comparable to a Multiversal feat.

      There are huge steps to get Universal+ to even normal Multiversal. 50x SSG isn't enough to just support that boost...you just obviously have no idea what you are talking about with 0 evidence to help you and have even resorted to insults.       I like how you just put that in my mouth. I was only adressing that SSB is 50x SSG as it is the alteration of SSJ. SSG is like UI Omen, a limit - breaking form, so, it had no exact multipliers. SSJ Grade 1 is 50x Base, SSJ Grade 2 is 2x of that, SSJ Grade 3 is 5x of that, MSSJ is at least 2x of that since it could fight and surpass a Non - Less Supressed Cell, SSJ2 is 2x of that, SSJ3 is 4x of that.

      If you want to infer that SSG is 2x SSJ3 (When it's clearly not)

      SSB is 800,000 times base, SSB KKX20 is 20x that which makes it 16 million.

    Beerus likely used Kai Kai to access the Kaioshin Realm as the only to acess it is via Teleportation.
