Character Analysis: DCAU Superman

Background

The DCAU version of Superman. He hails from the planet Krypton and was sent to Ea by his father Jor-el shortly before said planet was destroyed by an internal instability.  He was found by the Kents, grew up in Smallville and then eventually moved to Metropolis where he became a news reporter. After he took on the role of Superman, he went on to become a founding member of the Justice League.

Some of the more notable qualities of this incarnation are that the villain Brainiac actually served as an important artificial intelligence for krypton itself. This AI knew Krypton’s destruction was imminent, and escaped on his own shortly beforehand

This Superman is also shown to still be active in the 2040s during the events of Batman Beyond. He still leads that version of the Justice league and also became a firefighter.

Armor 

Protective suites

Superman has received various protective suites from Star labs. These are generally lead lined and protective against Kryptonite radiation.


Eradicator Armor

An armor set Superman uses in the Batman Beyond time period. It replicates his normal powers while shielding him from Kryptonite.

Arsenal

Phantom zone projector

A projector that sends opponents into the phantom zone dimension. The phantom zone in the DCAU is described as being outside of space/time.


Robot duplicates

Robotic duplicates of Superman. They have many of his abilities at lower levels of strength and durability. They act as his backup in situations where he himself is unable to be present himself.

Solar energy absorption

Superman has the ability to absorb energy from yellow sun radiation. This gives him a host of general super powers, like super speed, strength and durability.

The ability to fly.

Microscopic vision

The ability to zoom in to see microscopic structures. Superman can see objects as small as nanites.

Thermal vision

The ability to see thermal radiation.

Heat vision

The ability to create lasers from his eyes.

Lobotomy

Superman can use heat vision to lobotomize people. Most famously the “Justice Lord” Superman did this to neutralize multiple former villains.

Super breath

The ability to create powerful bursts of air via breathing outward.

Wally west

Superman has raced relatively on par with Wally west before in the past.


Livewire

 Livewire is one of Superman’s main villains in the show. He can harm her and keep up with her attacks.


John stewart

Superman has been shown to be able to keep up with and destroy John Stewart’s Green lantern constructs. 


Doomsday

Another major superman villain. Superman can fight on par with and harm him.
