Beerus vs Galaxia Q and A

Edit: People were sending not so nice messages to DJ's private email, so from now on all Q and A's will be posted on this blogspot rather than google docs.

Edit:Apparently some of the image links went down.I assume most people who wanted to read this blog, have by now, but we can fix it if there's enough demand for it

Ultraguy: Hi 4chan. I hope you’re having a nice day. I know ur watching me lol

Edit: "I don't expect you to reply but I honestly have to wonder if you find 4chan as toxic as the Screwattack forums back when you were moderating?"

Depends on the thread. Some fights were more toxic than others.

Anyway, if you’re wondering what was cut out of the Galaxia blog. There was basically an elongated section with explanations on how star seeds work, the “conceptual” arguments, context for the Sailor Moon cosmology and an explanation for the differences between the media adaptations.

Ha ha ha……... gutting that out might have been a mistake.

A Q&A document or something…

Here’s the links to the blogs that were posted when the episode was announced:

Tiki: I don’t think we need to tell you that we explicitly expunge some information in the blogs so as to not give absolutely everything we had in mind away. It’s really there to give people a decent read. At the time of writing, I noticed a fuckton some similar questions pop up for Sailor Moon and I know there’s gonna be some disagreements with how the verdict is structured. So let’s go with that. Note: I’m sticking with a single translation (the scanlations that directly translate the manga, not localized like in the international comics release, this is to prevent any so-to-speak “translation arguments”).

General Questions on Galaxia

Q. Immeasurable or Infinite Speed for Galaxia

A. So this came out because of some statements floating around on the VS Wikis or DB Wikis or whatever, stating that Chaos was infinite in speed due to a factor that it had existed before time was a construct and therefore was able to move inside a void (which is technically infinite). There’s also the matter of being comparable to Sailor Cosmos who could move through time via just movement. Both of these statements are largely taken out of context.

Sailor Moon: Act 60           Sailor Moon: Act 59

Now if you’re wondering why it seems this doesn’t line up right in this translation, it’s because they never said it. Chaos’s core is the Chaos Seed and was never able to become a star like say any of the Sailor Guardians. It simply stayed in the Cauldron and had their evil doppelgangers (all of the major villains in Sailor Moon) do the heavy lifting for it. I had spent a near half hour trying to find the statement that it was indeed existing before time had been created, but by the by, it doesn’t exist in this translation.

Even if Chaos did exist before time was a construct, it’s not like time itself didn’t exist. Multiple timelines are present within Sailor Moon as is. Something that even Chaos is affected by, given that Sailor Cosmos had her own Chaos she’s dealing with in her native timeline. Not to mention that the entity Chaos itself never really ventured much outside the Cauldron until the very last chapters of the manga. It’d be like saying gravity didn’t exist before Newton discovered it.

For Sailor Cosmos, the methodology she utilized isn’t extrapolated much. All we know is that she ran away from her own timeline and disguised herself as Chibichibi. It’s never stated if she used the space-time corridor or not. But let’s say she didn’t use it for arguments sake. That’d be more applicable to an ability not a speed feat. If anything, it’s better to say her abilities are able to affect the far reaches of time. After all, Wiseman, Chibiusa, and Galaxia have all shown the ability to do this to some extent. More acausality hax if anything.

You could make a very flimsy argument for Lambda Sailor Moon to be that fast, but for Galaxia, absolutely not. Not only was she completely caught off guard when Chaos attacked her, but she was also knocked out when Sailor Moon blocked an attack from it. And literally pages after that, she died.

Because it came up, I’ll address this real fast. (Edit as of 3:40PM, August 9th 2020). First of all, like I said in the introduction, this is really down to a difference in translation.  Here’s the equivalent in the translation I reference. Notice the lack of mention of the fourth dimension or anything involving “timeless.” I didn’t use these scanlations of the international comics because it wildly changes many statements. You can get a number of different stats this way. But let’s address this as it should.

The Time Door / Space-Time Corridor is a space that exists within the dimension of time (i.e. the fourth dimension if you compare to our own understanding of time). However, there is a safe roadway to traversing the area, and thus it requires a “key” or a guide like Pluto to navigate it. In the scan, you need a key to calculate your location. It’s very possible that those safe spots are still bound by time but it acts as pathways to other time periods since time periods are represented through doorways not the actual paths. Since the dimension still has a location in the 3D plane, naturally leaving the safe spots (the dimension of time) might literally put you at any portion of the physical universe. By the way, Neo Queen Serenity asked Pluto to guard the door and placed a taboo on her to not affect time itself. It’s likely she just knew the safe pathways to the other doors, not the fact she can just infinitely move through time. That'd be a bit too headcanon.

This is what happened to both Chibiusa and Mamoru. Without a key, they were traversing the space-time storms in the normal three-dimension aimlessly (and are thus not travelling through time or a void, otherwise the “universe light feat” becomes null and void since it would not travel any distance to get to Wiseman). It’s like they lost their GPS and went off the road. Nothing to really consider infinite speeds and is still wildly inconsistent with known speed feats.

Finally moving in a “timeless” void generally is not considered infinite speed anyway. Many realms in fiction like this do not actually inhibit movement in the same way as say “a time stop”.

Also worth noting if you’re taking this literally, at that point you may as well say Dragon Ball characters have infinite speed because Goku moved during a timestop. It means largely nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Q. The Cosmology of Sailor Moon

A. Unlike say Dragon Ball, there isn’t a detailed layout of the Sailor Moon universe. In the episode, you may have peeped in a tab somewhere that there’s nothing implying that the Sailor Moon universe is much larger than our own. I know that’s going to confuse some people because there are indeed places that exist outside of the scope of the Sailor Moon universe. So I’ll expand on it.

Dimensions

First of all, let’s discuss dimensions. There are different dimensions / planes of reality that the characters travel to and battle in. Some of them even have stars and the sky and stuff, so what gives? Well funny enough, these dimensions still have explicit locations in the normal world.

In Act 3, where these scans came from, the Sailor Scouts fight Jadeite in an alternate dimension. Said dimension was stated to be located below a busy Tokyo intersection where they had first disappeared from. Obviously, even if the alternate dimensions are indeed otherworldly, they aren’t as big as a whole universe since the defeat of one General was enough to completely destabilize it.

It’s worth a point to mention the “mirror dimensions” that everyone seems to bring up when points of cosmology is brought up. So what is it? It’s everything a part of the “Mirror Universe” maintained by Queen Nehelenia. It’s a parallel universe from our own. Nehelenia has her own mirror that she uses to traverse the two realms, and when it’s not active it shows constellations from her native universe. This is paramount for stating that there are two universes in Sailor Moon. But the same cannot be said about the dimensions they traverse in.

For one, the Dead Moon Circus (the minions of Queen Nehelenia) / the controlled Amazoness Quartet were trying to gather power by utilizing Lemures, which in short were going to sap energy by feeding off of people’s dreams. The Palanquin Orb transforms the circus animals they had in stock to their own villains that would target the Sailor Scouts individually. Now, in context, this is used as a framing device for the Inner Senshi to gain their Super / Crystal Power forms. But these circus animals would attack them with mental and dream attacks, not so much directly. This dream / nightmare method is the crutch of the conflict for the Dead Moon Circus Arc.

That being said, let’s talk about Ami and her run-in with Fish-Eye since many people point to this as being proof of mathematical dimensions / Universal scaling. In Act 40, Fish-Eye (the fish transformed into a circus villain) would stalk Ami and use her own insecurities against her in a nightmare. We quite literally see Ami fall asleep. And it’s previously established that Fish Eye had set her up to have those nightmares by giving her an aquarium-disguised Lemure. The product of a Lemure sapping your energy will give you nightmares.

In this nightmare, she was able to resist having her will sapped from her and is able to transform into her Crystal Power form, which she then proceeds to not only wake up, but dispel the Lemures, a mirror, and damage Fish-Eye all together. This is not a separate dimension, Ami just straight up was sleeping for a majority of that encounter. It’s a nightmare. The same way myself waking up from a dream wouldn’t mean I altered the fabric of reality. She never actually likens it to an alternate dimension, and is explicitly calling it hallucinations.

(In reference to Episode 195 & 196 of the Sailor Moon anime)

Finally, for a more relevant topic, let’s discuss Galaxia’s dimension. This is really an anime-only application but given that we are compositing these characters it is worth touching on. Galaxia does have her own dimension that she’s stationed in. From there, she examines the galaxy at large and does her planning with Shadow Galactica. Once she appeared on Earth, her presence caused calamity worldwide. After their initial battle where Princess Kakyuu fell, Ami was then able to recognize that her dimension was currently at the Galaxy TV Headquarters.

Again, notice how despite dimensions being in another plane of reality, they have explicit locations in the real world? These dimensions are sometimes translated in the anime to be universe-sized but there’s a larger lack of evidence to prove it than there is to ignore it altogether. I would compare them to the “territories” in Yu Yu Hakusho (funny since the Togashi and Takeuchi are married) where they’re more alternate places than higher planes of existence.

Either or, dimensions in Sailor Moon aren’t all synonymous with alternate universes and thus cannot be used with a dissenting lens when discussing Sailor Moon’s cosmology. They are often created through different means and many times, grossly taken out of context.

Edge of the Universe

A little easier to pick through, but bare with me for a little bit. There’s some arguments that the Sailor Moon universe is infinite in size. There’s quite a few evidence pieces that directly contradict those claims. But in order to get to the bottom of it, we need to first take a look at Wiseman / Death Phantom.

Wiseman / Death Phantom is the bearer of the Dark Crystal. Its power is to distort space and time. Before this is taken out of context, this is more akin to how wormholes are formed, given that the Planet Nemesis (a giant Dark crystal) had been capable of plopping in and out of reality, appearing again at different corners of the Solar System. The Death Phantom himself was stated to be at the edge of the universe, where his dimension lied. (Again a dimension having a location in the 3D world and not being in some higher god plane of reality but I’ll just keep pointing it out so everyone gets it)

Characters such as Chibiusa and Mamoru actually ended up there well before the Inner Senshi ever got to him (given that Wiseman straight up brainwashes them). There is an explicit “end” for the Sailor Moon universe. Thus, this is a point towards the camp that it’s not infinite in size and therefore you can treat any sort of cosmology with this in mind. As Sailor Moon’s universe is based largely on our own, we can treat part of its cosmology as it relates to the 3D plane as such too.

There’s another matter that Lambda Sailor Moon is based on the concept of the static cosmos. What is the static cosmos? In short, it’s the idea that the universe is fixed, it is not continuously growing or shrinking. It has been the same size and volume since its creation while the contents of the universe is what is changing. This is referenced in Act 60, meaning that Takeuchi kept the ideas of the cosmology that the universe in Sailor Moon will have a clear beginning and end to it. It’s not like DC and its infinite spatial dimensions with stuff like the Speed Force or whatever else there is.

There is a defined size and it’s the size of our universe since planets like Earth, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, etc. (actually the whole Milky Way is brought up a few times in the series) exist in it. And unfortunately, there’s not a statement stating how many light years long the Sailor Moon universe is, so we really only have our own to go off of.

Galaxy Cauldron

This is a big one. It’s easily the source of the most contention when it comes to debating Sailor Moon. And that’s because most of it is speculative. But depending on your interpretation could either make the verse of Sailor Moon very powerful or do virtually nothing for it. What exactly is the Galaxy Cauldron now that we’re on it?

The Galaxy Cauldron is the birthplace for all things in the universe. It birthed every star, galaxy, planet, even the Star Seeds which the Sailor Scouts utilize. It’s an incredibly important piece in the Sailor Moon universe because for once, this is the strongest piece of evidence of a dimension that may be universe in size. We do not know how long it took the Galaxy Cauldron to produce everything in the universe, but it’s implied that it does so in order not all at once (given that Chaos had been born first within it and Sailor Moon’s Star Seed was born later under special circumstances).

Still, the fact is that there’s an outside entry way to it. We know that the Galaxy Cauldron is located at the center of Sagittarius Alpha Star, which is based off of the Sagittarius A, a real-life cosmic location that’s “a bright and very compact astronomical radio source at the center of the Milky Way.” Which makes sense since this is where the final battles take place in the manga for Sailor Moon.

The outside isn’t at all universe-sized nor is the entryway so set apart from reality that it is above all things in the Sailor Moon universe. It’s like the pot by which all things are born. An impressive place but not at all indicative of supporting the dimensions or infinite universe statements. The inside of the Cauldron is what is hotly debated.

Inside of the Galaxy Cauldron is particularly special since this is where “all things in the universe return to.” So it is the birthplace and also the place by which stars return. It does seem to be set apart from the likes of linear time. So what about feats involving the Galaxy Cauldron? Does this mean the Sailor Moon universe could have Multiversal levels of power? Infinitely cosmic proportions? Eh, hold your horses there.

While being inside the Galaxy Cauldron renders most things back into nothingness and it is the birthplace, there is no statements or evidence regarding the size and mechanics of how it works (besides the aforementioned). When Sailor Moon wakes up inside of it, she sees it as a vast nothingness. Cosmos then before parting ways with her describes the emptiness as an ocean. Really it seems that stars are born from this sea before being expelled (like how the main characters were in Act 60).

If the outside of the Cauldron is the bowl / container to birth these stars, then the dimension inside of the Cauldron is the water inside of the bowl. Obviously, comparing the volume versus the surface area of an object, the volume will always be bigger. However, I think there’s a bit too much headcanon and vagueness to imply that the Galaxy Cauldron is a universe in and of itself. Especially since this is based on a real-life location in the Milky Way, the statements of the static cosmos, and there being an edge to the universe. Really, at most, you can say that the inside of the Galaxy Cauldron is as big as the Milky Way itself, but that’s a bit silly.

Conclusion

I’ve said all of this, but that doesn’t really change the fact that the cosmology (strangely enough for a series literally about cosmic girls) isn’t explored in any definitive detail that anyone can just point at something and understand it. It requires to compare and contrast everything that the series is about up until that point. Where do I stand in how the cosmology is sorted? I decided to make a crude image detailing what I think. Based on my readings and watch throughs, I believe the Sailor Moon verse to look a little something like this: ignore that I misspelled “singular”

Now, obviously, this doesn’t include the tiny instances wherein there were small dimensions peppered that were between time and space (like the Time Purgatory / Space-Time Door). Nor does it include the other galaxies or solar systems present within our universe. Also unlikely that the Mirror Universe has its own Galaxy Cauldron entryway like the Sagittarius Alpha Star, but it’s probably linked with the normal universe’s version of such. Maybe, it’s speculatory.

But it does include most of the big locations that were named and stationary throughout the series (hence why you do not see Planet Nemesis anywhere but it would be in Earth’s Solar System if it was). And honestly, based on this diagram, this isn’t a 1-to-1 in size.

Nor is this official, so please do not pedal this as fact. This is strictly for means of communication of these presented ideas.

Ultimately, what this shows is that the Sailor Moon universe for a singular instance in one timeline, is composed of two universes at most. Now, there’s obviously other timelines in here but it doesn’t really apply all that much to Galaxia in this case (maybe Sailor Moon in the future?). At most, Sailor Moon may have four mathematical dimensions (4D), the three dimensions for space and the fourth for time. Perhaps altering and being able to scale to universal threats as they say in Sailor Moon puts you at Universal + to Low Multi (and very low at that).

As said in the episode tab (if it’s present, I’m writing this before the episode is released), there are locations outside of the scope of the Sailor Moon universe’s definition of space and time, but ultimately nothing that leads to assume it’s vastly larger than our own. Without the Dark World / Mirror Universe, any additional parameters may boost this figure by a fraction of a Fraction of a FRACTION of a percent above 100%.

Q. Galaxia has a cool sword and this badass super form transformation at the end of the anime. What about that? Did you forget?

A. They are a direct result of Galaxia’s backstory in the anime being contradictory to the original manga. In the anime, Galaxia was the legendary Sailor Scout who sealed Chaos inside her. The sword is created directly by Chaos’s energy and the form is a result of the seal being broken and Chaos taking full control of her body. In the manga, while Galaxia works with Chaos, there is no instance where Chaos controls her. In fact, in the manga, she is actively working to kill it eventually. As we are considering the ORIGINAL continuity, the Sailor Moon manga, and its supporting evidence, it cannot be used for this debate as it contradicts it. There’s a reason why the form is officially dubbed “Chaos Galaxia.”

Q. By not using anime feats you nerfed Galaxia.

A. I do think this needs to be elaborated on. We didn’t have a specific ban on “all” feats or abilities from the 90s anime. It’s just due to the fact Galaxia’s backstory is so different in the anime, certain weapons or transformations (like the ones above) couldn’t be reconciled. That said the anime didn’t really have any “feats' ' that were better than the manga feats we were already using, and were therefore cut from the script for time.

The only super notable feats from Galaxia comes from when she fights the Starlights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImQZoNg8zlc

We did several calcs based on this fight. The explosions are around solar system level, while the speed is around 3 trillion sol. Much lower than what Galaxia was given in the episode.

Q. Galaxia can warp the very fabric of time, can’t she?

A. Yes and no. Her actions are able to send ripples that can be felt literally centuries away, but that’s a result of her killing everyone in the present. She ruined the 30th Century because there is no future if everyone technically died in the 20th. Can’t have a Silver Millenium future if you’re dead. It’s a time paradox. She can’t punch someone so hard they travel back in time (but it would be sick if she could).

Q. Galaxia can go into your mind and attack you in your dreams.

A. I’ve seen this spreading around and it was largely taken out of context (as is many things when people discuss Sailor Moon). Galaxia can project thoughts onto others as a means of communication (every Sailor Scout can do this by the way), but she cannot attack others on a mental plane and has never done so. When it came to Usagi, Galaxia telepathically projected some messages to her, but Usagi was already pretty traumatized by that point. When her boyfriend, Mamoru, died in front of her, she literally forced herself to forget about it. And no, the Starlights did not have a hand in that.

Furthermore, she can’t just mind-control you without your star seed first. She also does not have some kind of Mewtwo-like mind reading power. Even if she did or attempted to utilize telepathy in the fight somehow, Ultra Instinct is about fighting without thinking, so Beerus wouldn’t have a ton of thoughts during the fight anyway. Characters like Vegeta have also blown off mental attacks in the past, and it’s pretty likely Beerus could do the same(In fact he does in some spin offs, if you want supporting evidence).

Q. Couldn’t Galaxia scale to Chaos who can be reduced to “infinitely small” in the Galaxy Cauldron?

A. Nope! First off, the whole infinitely small statement comes from the international release of Sailor Moon (the same translation that changed character names, plot statements, and cultural references - note that this isn’t bad persay, but it’s explicitly a translation thing).

In the primary translation I reference, Chaos was reduced to being “too small to ever be found again.” It was a vague statement said by Cosmos at the literal last chapter of the manga run when Usagi asked her. Beforehand, it’s established that all stars in the Cauldron are restored to their “perfected form.” Meaning that it could really be that the other Scouts are perfect as normal fairing humans, and Chaos is perfect as a star that did not grow into a spiteful killer. Too vague to consider “Multiversal” levels of power from this.

And second of all, Galaxia died before any of that was relevant, so it definitely wouldn’t apply to her.

Q. Galaxia has Hax regen.

A. She does not have a traditional form of a regeneration. It may seem odd considering the internet gossip about these characters, but applications of a healing factor and regeneration really only have applied to certain Sailor Scouts such as Sailor Moon and Sailor Saturn both of which have shown explicit abilities to regenerate. Sailor Moon in particular because of the Silver Crystal’s power being the power of restoration.

However, Galaxia’s powers and abilities are tailored only for destruction. She does not have the ability to recover if say half of her body is blown away. Other Sailor Scouts are also unable to regenerate should they be severely damaged in battle without first resting. Now, transforming into their Sailor Guardian avatars will heal them, but they need to be in their Civilian State first. It’d also explain the fact that despite still possessing a Star Seed after their untimely deaths, the Senshi were unable to restore their bodies on their own. That much had only really applied to Sailor Moon when she regenerated from nothing after being consumed by Pharaoh 90.

Case in point, the regeneration hax does exist, but only for the Silver Crystal users and Sailor Saturn (to a much smaller extent mind you). Should Galaxia be overtaxed, she will die.

Q. But Mercury / Jupiter destroyed a mirror universe too and regened from almost nothing.

A. Keeping this short because I briefly touched on this in the Cosmology section with Ami / Sailor Mercury. However, in the Death Busters arc during the final battle with Queen Nehelenia: Saturn, Moon, and Chibimoon are trapped inside the mirror universe to fight Nehelenia on their own. Upon their confrontation with Zirconia and her subsequent retreat, the Senshi are unable to actually walk into the mirror world from the outside. Therefore, Jupiter and Mercury’s solution was to just break the damn thing down. It works.

It also subsequently damages Queen Nehelenia as a result. Note that it doesn’t kill her or puts her in an inactive state. They just managed to break inside of her nightmare dimension. Once again, context is necessary. Now, there is another argument altogether with how the Inner and Outer Senshi’s Super forms scale to Zirconia and Nehelenia but that’s a different story altogether.

Also, those two never regenerated from nothing. In fact, when they were killed in the battle with the Sailor Animamates, the manga goes out of the way to say that their bodies were completely destroyed. They do not have regeneration on the level of Sailor Moon or even Saturn.

Q. Galaxia has all purpose power nullification.

A. I don’t know how else to answer this other than I don’t know where this comes from, and that it doesn’t exist at least to the extent that Beerus has. I could see this being because Galaxia was able to deflect Outer Senshi and Crystal Moon Kiss, but I don’t see how that’s nullification rather than her using destruction on those spells (or utilizing her repulsive forces).

Edit: Gonna paraphrase from a friend of ours

“A claim that's gone around is that Galaxia and her minions have power nullification because Tin Nyanko launched an energy blast that took away the Mautians ability to speak in their cat forms. However, the text suggests this was related to the damage to the crescent moons on their foreheads. These markings on their foreheads are very important to the Mautions as shown in Act 1. Luna had her crescent moon covered by a bandage and could not use her locator abilities or speak. As such it was likely more a matter of the Mautians biology rather than some ability of Galaxia and her Animamates that nobody ever addresses and never comes up in any other situation.”

Q. Galaxia Has Death Manipulation

A. This “power” is pretty vague. It’s essentially just centered around planets being left in a deathless, and destroyed state after she’s visited them. Which you know is probably a natural result of her killing everyone and the fact that in both the anime and manga show she tends to cause massive environmental disasters or destruction to a planet whenever she shows up. It’s not likely a specific kind of hax.

Q. The Animamates one shot Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter with the power of destruction. Which was given to them by Sailor Galaxia.

A. The Animamates were already much more powerful than the Crystal Power forms of the Sailor Scouts to begin with. Even just a fraction of Galaxia’s power was more than enough to kill most of them in a single hit save for Sailor Moon. Now, if it one shotted everyone, this would have weight as an argument. With the Sapphire Crystal’s power, every technique and ability is infused with the “power of destruction” to speak. Just like other Sailor Crystals, all magic that stems from it is infused with their unique power no matter the technique. All of Mars’s spells will have some sort of fire element. All of Mercury’s has some form of water element. If at any point the Scouts are able to fight any of the “Galactica” techniques or spells from an Animamate, then this argument no longer has weight. Since they technically blocked attacks that should one-shot.

So therefore, here’s some scans of the Sailor Scouts able to block / counter attacks that are originated with power from the Sapphire Crystal (even struggling still means it doesn’t one shot).

Also Mercury and Jupiter were defeated because Sailor Aluminum Siren reflected one of Sailor Moon's own spells back at her teammates. Take note of the context here. When Mercury and Jupiter were estranged by Aluminum’s Galactica Tsunami, as Uranus attempted to help her she literally states that the power bounced off. When Sailor Moon tried, same result, but it killed Mercury and Jupiter as a result.

Q. Why did you use the anime version of the lighting up the universe feat?

A. The time frame used for the manga feat was a bit hard to discern. While Crystal has “some” differences from the manga as a whole, this specific scene is almost exactly the same. If it looks slightly different, it's mainly because crystal actually has backgrounds and is in motion. The manga is notorious for having it be hard to tell what’s happening due to how it was drawn. Given that using crystal for a timeframe made sense. If we went out on a limb and used a single second as the timeframe, we could do so for the shockwave feat and then Beerus would be WAY faster than Galaxia.

The anime feat is in Crystal S2EP22 11:40 https://www.hulu.com/watch/b0c75bd0-3160-47c1-9f64-4968390eb365

Some comparison shots:

Now simply put it, we used this feat because the light physically reached Mamoru, who was walking on-foot to Wiseman’s dimension, which is established to be at the end of “space-time.” (the universe). There is a point with the original Japanese scans on why it may be fishy, but we figured the presented evidence plus it reaching the space-time storms was enough to use at least the radius of the universe as distance. Definitely not the diameter though.

Q. Galaxia has infinite energy though? Shouldn’t techniques like Galactica Crunch also nullify any of Beerus’s attacks while adding to her own power?

A. She should have infinite energy from her crystal scaling to other crystals like the Dark Crystal and the Silver Crystal. However, based on that scaling to other crystals there is also a limit to how much power she can output at one time. Nemesis, a giant Dark Crystal, was absorbing the energy given off by the Sailor Senshi. Once the whole “lighting up the universe” feat happened, it broke down completely. Since we’re scaling their energy reserves to each other, the Dark and Sapphire Crystals should have similar weaknesses as well. (the Silver is another story but not relevant right now).

Essentially infinite energy =/= infinite AP.

A good comparison would be the androids in Dragon Ball, who also have “infinite energy.” They may have infinite energy, but they can still be overwhelmed and destroyed by a much stronger opponent. Hence why Future Trunks was able to kill the 17 and 18 in his timeline.

Q. Galaxia traversed the entire Milky Way galaxy, going from planet to planet, killing everyone and collecting their Star Seeds in a short amount of time.

A.This was in the character blog and was not meant to be taken so literally. She did not literally do this in a day or an hour. It just meant in an unspecified time frame, but likely implied FTL speed given the distances she would have to cross. Of course maybe she also teleported part of the way, who knows really.

Everything on Star Seeds

Q. What exactly is a Star Seed? How does it apply to people outside the Sailor Moon universe?

A. A Star Seed is a tiny gem present within all living beings. You can call it a gem linked with your soul or a life essence. It’s literally what powers the body of whatever they’re in.  A special Star Seed is chosen by the planet to protect it, these are called True Star Seeds. You know the Silver Crystal, Sapphire Crystal, and various Sailor Crystals? All True Star Seeds. A plant has a Star Seed. Even a human does, but they are pretty weak. When a human loses their Star Seed, they just become mindless knockoff monsters of the weeks or Phages for short, at least in the anime.

Without a True Star Seed, you cease to be outside your Star Seed. But if your body is destroyed, getting your Star Seed back can restore it. This is because a True Star Seed also embodies a concept (more on that later). Long story short, powerful entities with extraordinary power should have True Star Seeds. So as long as you are not as strong as a normal human or a plant (which applies to 99% of characters on DEATH BATTLE), if it’s removed, the victim’s body will disappear and the Star Seed is at the mercy of whoever took it. In the medical sense, you die.

Q. How do you know a star seed is life energy and has any connection to your soul? Chibi Moon’s soul was stolen and explicitly shown to be separate from her Star Seed.

A. Star Seeds and how they work is somewhat vague. The series never really explains it all that well, so certain aspects are open to interpretation. That said calling a star seed a manifestation of life energy that has a link to your soul is probably the easiest explanation. At minimum Star seeds are outright called a power source, so they do provide power/energy to whatever they’re inside of

https://sailormoongallery.org/albums/scanlation_smoon/smoon_act52/004.jpg  https://sailormoongallery.org/albums/scanlation_smoon/smoon_act52/005.jpg

Them being a power source is also a good explanation for why literally anything “alive” has one. https://gallery.missdream.org/albums/scanlation_smoon/smoon_act54/030.jpg

As for the Chibi Moon… This is in reference to the couple of statements that likens the soul and the Silver Crystal to be two different entities from each other. However, Hotaru’s protecting Chibiusa’s soul also, in kind, weakened Mistress 9’s control over her Silver Crystal 1 2.(She protected the Silver crystal from a distance via protecting Chibi’s soul). So just to reiterate, Hotaru protecting someone’s soul had a bearing on the control over their Sailor Crystal. And not just Hotaru, but the other Sailor Scouts as well. The two are linked.

This connection is also likely what was alluded to when it was stated the silver crystal sync’s with Chibi’s heart and mind. Implying the Silver Crystal / True Star Seeds and the essence / soul of the individual to be at the very least connected. Another line furthers this notion.

Souls in the Sailor Moon manga and anime are depicted as ethereal in nature. As evident from the fact that Prince Endymion literally states he was currently expelling his own soul from his body, his soul is viewed as translucent, and we do not see any instance of the Golden Crystal being shown to not have a hand in it.

I think many people are hung up on it being one or the other, but no one has bothered to ask if it could be both. A Sailor Crystal in layman's terms is a gifted crystalized form of life energy with a link to a chosen living being’s soul, identity, memories, avatar, and powers. A normal Star Seed is just antecedent of a link to the soul.

Naturally, if an opponent is able to resist manipulation to any of these factors, they should be fine enough to have their Star Seeds out of their body briefly. Or even be fine completely should an attack of that nature happen to them.

Q. What about Hotaru? She can live without a Star Seed and live as just a spirit.

A. In her introduction, Hotaru’s soul was corrupted. Due to the experiments of Professor Souichi Tomoe, Hotaru had no blood flow, and her body was a mixture of machine and flesh. Regardless, she had still been possessed by the Tairon Crystal with the voices of her Saturn avatar telling her to awaken. When her body inevitably transforms into Mistress 9, Hotaru eventually sacrifices her own soul to save the stolen souls of Inner and Outer Senshi. Technically, her possessed body and her pure soul were being upheld by the Tairon Crystal and at the time, the stolen Silver Crystal.

Once Saturn awoke, she then sacrificed herself again to destroy Pharaoh 90 and the Tau Nebula, thus putting an end to the Death Busters threat. Because of Sailor Moon resurrecting the destroyed remnants of their battle, Hotaru’s soul was reborn (she became a baby because technically the remains of Mistress 9’s body, which is Hotaru’s body, remained, it’s a bit confusing I know). The Tairon Crystal was still intact but this time Hotaru would be given a chance at a second life since her dad was kinda a dick.

Thus by her death by Galaxia, she did actually have a soul. But it didn’t really matter because due to the destruction move, she was going to die either way whether she had a soul or not. But there’s never a point wherein Hotaru never had access to some type of Sailor Crystal whether it was hers or not (or whether she was possessed by Mistress 9 or not).

Q. Why do some Sailor Scouts have human Stars Seeds in addition to their Sailor Crystals?

A. Part of me wants to chalk this up to just inconsistent writing, but in fairness to trying to explain all of this, it may have to do with how they were resurrected. In the beginning of the series, Sailor Moon (with Luna’s help) had to go out and find the Inner Senshi. All of them had been lost in their fight with Metellia, and were therefore resurrected as modern humans. Until they were confronted with their true identities, as far as anyone was concerned, they were just normal humans.

Now as I said earlier, a weak Star Seed can’t really persist outside of their bodies for too long. A human Star Seed will grow black and dissolve once extracted. It was a pretty big point in the anime that Sailor Iron Mouse kept going after regular humans to turn into Phages. When the Inner and Outer Senshi were confirmed dead, they also went out of their ways to state that as humans they were done for. So obviously they had both a human and a Sailor Guardian presence. (This is another point stating that Sailor Crystals always are inside their bodies so naturally vaporizing it will reveal it, but that’s getting off topic).

Could also explain the differences in their Civilian State from their Sailor Guardian avatars(as in they have a human seed for the human form and a sailor crystal for the guardia form), but that’s just getting into a whole lot of speculation that honestly, just isn’t explained well at all to begin with. Case in point, they have both, they both have some link to their souls, not explained well, can’t give you a definitive answer. Really doesn’t matter for the sake of this debate.

Q. Galaxia can manipulate literal concepts.

A. No, she cannot. Concepts in the Sailor Moon Universe refers to the titles that a Sailor Scout has. Every Sailor Scout has one. In Galaxia’s case, she is the Sailor of Destruction. Destruction is her concept so she has abilities, strengths, and weaknesses related explicitly to destruction. In say the instance of Sailor Saturn, she is the Sailor of Silence (in the manga they call her the Goddess of Destruction, not Sailor of Destruction). Silence is her concept. She has abilities (like Silence Wall and her Silence Glaive) which all tie back to her being the “grim reaper” of the series that lays life and calamity to silence. Sailor Moon is the Sailor of Love and Justice, she has abilities tailored with hearts and… you get the idea.

I do understand that it is confusing to some when words like “concepts” are thrown around (as it implies some higher dimension of reality), but Galaxia cannot manipulate what exactly a True Star Seed’s concept is since that basically means she can change their powers, strengths, and weaknesses, which she cannot do with the Sapphire Crystal alone (at best she just swaps their abilities with evil variants and that’s with the Star Seeds first). And while Chaos embodies the concept of chaos, it does have physical presence as a dark overgrown star figure. After all, it was incarnated as Metellia, Wiseman / Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90, and Nehelenia, all of which affected things on a 3D plane. Galaxia hasn’t shown to manipulate that specifically in the anime run or original manga run.

Anyway this needs to be noted. A lot of the stuff regarding “conceptual” manipulation in regards to the star seeds is more of a “theory” attempting to explain aspects of the series that are inherently left vague or unexplained. It’s not something you can easily back up with a direct statement from any one character.  Manipulating the Star seeds is probably more akin to some kind of life essence manip with a hint of soul manipulation, as noted in other sections.

Q. Queen Metallia, Death Phantom, and Chaos are abstract and they have Star Seeds.

A. A character can be abstract, non-living, ETC, and still have a soul or spiritual essence. Also, every single of these characters were threats to matter on a three dimensional plane (considering each of them were a threat to Earth in some form or fashion).

Q. The “Power of Destruction” is the only way to gain a Sailor Scouts Star Seed.

A. Case in point. It’s not. (Now you may say breaking the Galactica Bracelets released it, but then you admit that their essence / soul / blueprints were in the Star Seeds to begin with, and at that point it’s arguing semantics)

Also the fact that Sailor Phi and Chi were able to extract the Starlight’s Star Seeds without vaporizing the bodies, counterintuitive to say how destruction is usually described as ripping apart the body to steal it. If you are able to rip apart or vaporize the Guardian’s body, naturally all that’ll be left is the Star Seed. There’s multiple instances wherein we see Sailor Crystals sealed inside the Guardian’s body (these are three links btw). So in a way, destruction is a perfect red herring since it’s a great way to take a Star Seed, but by no means is it the only way. The “Power of Destruction” isn’t spiritual in nature. Attacks against the spirit in Sailor Moon tend to have the victims wither away, turn to husks, or be corrupted, while attacks in Galaxia’s variety straight up have matter explode

Best way I can describe this. Say you have a box with a diamond inside of it. An indestructible diamond. Now you want that diamond. So let’s open the box and take it. Cool. Now is that the only way you can get it? No. You can cut it open. You can blow it up. Assuming it’s made of cardboard, submerge it in water. There’s plenty of ways. Stating that Galaxia’s powers of destruction is the only means to extract a Star Seed is pretty NLFy and doesn’t exactly add up.

Q. How did Beerus resist Galaxia’s hax and Star Seed steal?

A. To be to the point, Beerus can resist destruction because he should logically resist Hakai given weaker characters in Dragon Ball can resist it. Hakai erases your soul, life energy, physical matter and across timelines. Which covers anything Galaxia can do with her own “destruction” abilities.

For the Star Seed stuff, we need to explain that there’s a difference between how the “star seed” stealing thing works in the 90s anime and the original manga.

In the original manga, what Galaxia actually does is use her powers to invoke “destruction” on a target. The same way she blows up planets. Then, a Scouts Sailor crystal(called a true star seed in the anime) is simply what’s left over when she does this. After grabbing the crystal, she can remake the Sailor Scout under her control. Regardless of how it happens, a destroyed Sailor Scout will always release their Sailor Crystal afterwards (at least in the manga). In the anime, any deceased Scout will release it. No destruction needs to be involved, same result.  This is also the explanation for other instances where star seeds were ripped out of a character.

In the 90s anime, Galaxia can remove a star seed more directly. She can shoot you with a special energy beam from her bracelets that makes the star seed come out of your body, without any bodily harm. Once the star seed is removed your body slowly fades from existence, though Galaxia can remake you. Wearing renditions of her bracelets will keep you from fading again.

The first method would not work on Beerus, given that invoking “destruction” on him is far too similar to Hakai and destruction energy.

As a recap Hakai erases

-Matter

-Souls and your mind

-Energy, including Life energy found in all living things (Toppo erased Ki attacks with Hakai and Ki is a form of life energy)

- and it affects people across Timelines

Characters weaker than Beerus like Goku, Frieza and Vegeta have resisted Hakai/destruction, so Beerus should be able to resist effects similar to it as well(though honestly the fact his body outright produces destruction energy should make his resistance obvious).

The second Star Seed steel method is more debatable. Though “technically” speaking whether it should even be using it is questionable. It’s not canon to the manga, and a lot of aspects of how the star seeds/sailor crystals, galaxia’s bracelets, ect, work in the anime are quite different from the manga.

But anyway, it probably would not put Beerus down. Star Seeds don't really have an exact counterpart in a lot of verses, and we’ve heard varying arguments to what taking one means(life stealing, erasing on a conceptual level, ect).

However, given the connection to some kind of spiritual or life essence, Beerus is probably fine, given Hakai can work on KI. Likewise in the anime itself, which is the only place the direct star seed removal ability exists, there’s already a precedent for being able to survive without one. Galaxia herself had no Star Seed and did not fade from existence (the bracelets she wears protect against that, and she still remained even when those broke). Not only that but Mamoru / Tuxedo Mask was able to persist for a short while without his Golden Crystal (4:45). If Beerus has resistance to existence erasure he likely won't be erased from existence the second the star seed is pulled out of him. In other words his resistance is built in and his body probably won't just fade immediately.

When you add the fact Galaxia technically needs to aim and hit with this ability, the fact Beerus technically has other some defenses against it (clones, energy shields, energy nullification), the fact its inclusion at all is a bit contentionsious, and the fact a lot of elements of the stars seed are subject to interpretation, it's fair to side with Beerus.

Q. What about Moro and his energy absorption?

A. His abilities seem to be on a much greater and potent scale than previous energy manipulators in the series. I wouldn’t hold it against other examples listed so far, the same way I wouldn’t argue that the Sailor Guardians erasure resistance feats don’t count just because Galaxia can destroy them with a more potent ability.

Even then, (and despite Beerus most likely not fighting Moro), I’m willing to make a decent bet that Beerus is probably immune to those kinds of magical techniques.

It’s a plot point that Good Buu is actually immune to the life/energy absorption/extraction magical power of Moro because he was passed down latent protection by the god powers of the Grand supreme kai. Note they specifically say it was god power, and not some kind of magical protection or technique.

Given Beerus is the counterpart of the Supreme Kai’s and is intended to be the person who actively takes out threats and is supposed to be much stronger than all of them, I can’t imagine him (or the angels above him) not having the same immunity or godly Ki less potent.

And this is pretty backed up, as side media references actual deities being immune to certain magic or power suppression that Goku / Vegeta sometimes aren't. Yeah not totally canon, but neither is the Star Seed steal rendition from the anime.

Finally using speed and ultra instinct to pre-empt the ability all together is also an option. It’s more or less how Goku dealt with Moro’s absorption abilities himself.

General Questions On Beerus

Q. The Hakai resistance feats are from bit characters or have questionable parameters.

A.The God of Destruction energy that Frieza resisted was specifically gifted to an Assassin to be used to kill and erase Goku. It was entirely intended to be lethal and while Frieza managed to shrug it off, Goku likely would have succumbed to it had Beerus not intervened. Keep in mind, this was Goku after already getting multiple power upgrades since his god form.

Toppo’s destruction armor and attacks were also erasing anything that came into contact with it. This includes physical objects and even other energy attacks. Narratively, Vegeta being able to get through it with sheer force would not have been seen as a big deal, had it not been potentially dangerous.

It’s also worth noting the energy of destruction and Hakai are skills that can be mastered and are influenced by power DBZ-wise. Hence why Frieza had a harder time deflecting Toppo’s energy of destruction. The Destruction energy in these cases being “weaker” does not change the fact people still had to resist the effects. It’s fairly reasonable that Beerus would be much more proficient with the ability given he’s a master with it.

Also “technically” many of the existence erasure feats for Galaxia are via comparing to characters weaker than her and over various different parts of the sailor moon timeline. Any arguments regarding the “efficiency” of resistances apply as much to her as they do to Beerus. There’s a general understanding that since Beerus and Galaxia are “stronger” characters in their verse, their resistances probably scale upwards a bit. Beerus particularly since the erasure powers he has is intrinsically tied to the God of destruction Ki his body produces.

Q. The Dragon Ball characters don’t scale to the speed of the shockwaves made during the Goku vs. Beerus fight.

A. Goku and Beerus both move in tandem with the shockwaves they produce during the fight in the anime. We aren't solely scaling them because of simply producing the waves themselves. Though that said, it is also pretty reasonable to assume the speed and power of the punches are “around” the same level as the shockwaves, given a basic action = an equal reaction. If you’re wondering about the “manga” version of these events, we didn’t have any real intention to use that.

The feat is at 5:22 and  movement in tandem is at 8:49 http://ww5.Dragon Ballsuperdub.com/watch-dragon-ball-super-episode-12-funimation-english-dubbed/

I will be honest we would have mentioned that in the episode, but we didn’t think it would matter. We distinctly brought this tandem movement point up when we originally discovered the feat, and people in many of our communities were pretty much fine with using the feat. There’s also no proof the shockwaves accelerated btw. If anything they do not behave like real life waves, which would get weaker with distance. The tidal wave analogy also doesn’t imply an increase in speed, as tidal waves start off slow/weak and get more powerful/slow as they grow in size and destructive potential.

Q. Galaxia will just transport Beerus into another dimension.

A. This won't work. Characters with power levels on par with say SSJ3 could have holes in dimensions via the vice shout. Vegeta also broke out of the time chamber dimension via sheer power and Vegeto broke into and out of a dimension while fighting broly. Beerus should easily be able to escape if this scenario were to happen.

Vegeta blows up room of spirit and time, which is essentially its own plane of reality in super ep 63 2:47 http://ww5.Dragon Ballsuperdub.com/dragon-ball-super-episode-63-funimation-english-dubbed/

Q. What was with the power multipliers?

A. To put it in layman's terms Beerus’s universal feats came from fighting Goku when he first attained the God form. He’s still stronger than Goku after gaining the Super Saiyan Blue x10 Kaioken form. So how do we break down the power multipliers?

Super Saiyan Blue is literally the Super Saiyan form of the normal God form, which we know has a 50x multiplier. Then Kioken is another 10x since it's a literal multiplier in power.

So that’s a total of 500x. This was more than the unofficial “multiplier” for Galaxia. Which was basically an 8x multiplier based on Sailor moon defeating 8 of Galaxia’s minions at once.

Now we did toy with a few other ideas for higher multipliers for Galxia, given we’ve seen others take multipliers a bit higher. I think at most we’ve seen claims she could be tens of thousands of times universal based on some comparisons to her Silver Crystal and the Tairon Crystal. Though it’s worth noting this "tens of thousands" of times stronger statement was comparing the Tairon Crystal to a past version of the Silver Crystal, not Usagi’s power during the Stars arc. (Peep how it says a “Long Time Ago”).

That said this statement was made when Usagi jumped from her “normal” Sailor form to her “Super Sailor” form. Let’s roll with the fact despite it likely being hyperbole (it probably was) and the number being different in other translations for a second. There are some arguments that Usagi in her normal form could be as strong as her eternal form, so I guess the idea is that if her human form is eternal level in stars, her strongest forms could be at least 10,000 stronger. This is a whole other argument altogether, but let’s run with it.

It’s pretty likely that Beerus isn’t much weaker than Vegito Blue or Broly since it’s generally only proposed that they “might” be stronger than him. Vegito in his base form is typically shown to be stronger than Goku’s strongest blue variant. Broly also fought Gogeta , who’s base form is similarly stronger than Goku.

So let’s break it down.

Assuming Goku and Vegeta fusing is a 2x power increase from Goku’s bluex10 form at least.

Base to SS is 50x

SS to SS2 is 2x

SS3 is 4x

So even without entering the god forms Vegito is another 400,000x

And of course the god forms for Vegito would increase that even farther.

Even speculating the original god form required power from 5 saiyans so we could lowball a 5x multiplier.

The another 50x for Blue

That’s 100 million x and you can add another 3-9x cause of the size of the Dragon Ball universe(or high end was about 100x). There's also likely other increases in power you can extrapolate onto that if you want(like Goku's increase of power in base form). Finally, as a last resort, you could probably make a multiplier based on the power of feats between SS forms themselves the biggest of which is the jump from SS3 to SSG(Galaxy at most to universe is about a multiple of 2.6e26x)

Even if we start stacking this 10,000x claim with the multipliers already used for Galaxia in the ep, she would likely still come up short. The whole multiplier fight is a fight Galaxia really doesn’t want to start.

On a whole given benefit of the doubt, it's pretty easy to extrapolate power levels in Beerus’s favor if you want to go the whole power level multiplier route. Of course, we know not everyone likes to do this, so it was more of a side point. It’s also a bit too complicated to go into within the span of a single episode.

Q. Why did you say the Dragon Ball universe was so big?

A. You can measure the size of the Dragon Ball universe using the diagrams given for the microcosm. TECHNICALLY speaking, in fact being able to destroy it, should be higher than what we gave Beerus in the episode. Earth itself is on the edge of the observable universe, so it's on the edge of the bottom of the main sphere. In order to destroy everything, including the kai realm microcosm, Beerus would need the effects of his blows to at minimum cover a lot of the space in between both microcasims and likely from off center.

Others have technically attempted to do this https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:The_2nd_Existential_Seed/Dragon_Ball_Universe_size

In other words the “volume” of What Beerus effects should look something like this:

Or this

This also does not go into the fact you could “technically” inflate the size of the Universe 7 microcosm. Given Earth is technically on the edge of the universe in Dragon Ball (this is stated in the anime too), what we would consider the observable universe (defined as the universe observable from Earth) probably takes up a much smaller portion of the microcosm that most people give it credit for. Bulma even states outright that they can’t observe the entire universe from their location, showing Dragon Ball’s mortal universe is probably larger than a normal “observable” universe.

If you want to read up more on this, you can find a good guide on it here I will also mention that yes the microcosm is still referenced in current dragonball media. They show it outright in the Super manga.

Q. There aren't enough feats backing up the idea Beerus can destroy a universe on his own.

A.It’s more or less stated on his official Toie profiles he has this level of power. It was stated in the anime a fight between him and champa would destroy both Universe 6 and 7. There’s really no reason to believe that Beerus doesn’t have universe busting power.

Q. Can Beerus kill Galaxia if he can’t directly reach her Sailor Crystal?

A. Yes. Beerus can just beat her to death. You don’t have to target the crystal specifically to kill her and Galaxia can’t just revive from her crystal on her own in an instant. Most Sailor Scouts are not invulnerable to conventional forms of attack, you can harm them the old fashioned way.

Q. If certain things from the Sailor Moon anime were considered contradictory, why did you use the Dragon Ball movies and manga?

A. The Super anime, movies and manga follow a more similar outline compared to the sailor moon adaptations. Likewise each medium has often advanced to different points in the timeline out of order. You’ll often have cases where the movie or manga have adapted events that the anime (the main source) has not touched yet.

Additionally, in the case of Beerus, nothing he’s done in each media is highly contradictory to the rest. Even though we only see him use Ultra Instinct in the manga, we were told he had been learning it in the anime and movies. His fight with Champa in the manga is likewise something that has been alluded to happen in the anime as well. If it was something like Goku knowing Hakai in the manga, but in no other media, then we would be more suspect.

Q. Hakai doesn’t work on immortals?

A. This is true. But people misunderstand what “immortal” means in regards to Dragon Ball. When Beerus says it does not work on a person who is “immortal” he means it won't work on a person who has wished to become “unkillable” by the super dragon balls, such as Zamasu. “Eternal life” and “eternal youth” are not the kind of immortality he was referring to, and multiple characters he could kill in Dragon Ball have that (Roshi, 18/17,ect).

The manga says he can’t kill a person who is “immortal” with Hakai: https://www.mangareader.net/dragon-ball-super/26/37

If you’re wondering why it worked on fused Zamasu in the manga, it’s because half of his body was mortal. Galaxia is only immortal in the “cannot die of old age” way, not unkillable.

Q. Galaxia can erase people who are already resistant to existence-erasure. So she’s better at it.

A. Beerus can do that too actually. Despite Goku later surviving destruction energy for a time, Beerus was fully able to erase him himself, and nearly chose to do it at one point. Likewise, given Toppo was more skilled at using destruction energy than Sidra, it makes sense that Beerus would be even more proficient.

Q. Could Galaxia kill Beerus by killing Shin?

A. She wouldn’t know to do that or where exactly Shin is. Plus, at that point, you have to look at tons of factors with another character. Realistically, Shin can teleport anywhere (it’s an ability of his) and would probably be watching the fight via a crystal ball as it happens. He could probably just teleport to another universe if he was in danger.

Q.Hakai has a short range

A. It does not. You can use it on massive objects cities worth of distance away.

Beerus also technically destroys entire planets using destruction energy,so there’s that too.

Q.Hakai affects other timelines?

A. Beerus says if he erases you, all versions of you from all flows of time will be affected.

“Divine action is not so sloppy, and when I kill a god it will affect all flows of time.”

Goku Black was protected because he had a time ring (which he outright states) and Zamasu was probably protected because he was immortal.

Timelines in Dragon Ball generally work on a many worlds theory. You normally can’t travel back in time or perform an action in the past to ret-con events or prevent an event that already happened in another timeline. Any action like this just creates another timeline split. This was a plot point back in Dragon Ball Z where Trunks explicitly explained time travel in Dragon Ball works this way.

When Beerus says Hakai effects all flows of time, he’s likely referring to timelines. Him “creating” a new timeline when he erased Zamasu is probably due to the paradox that resulted from Zamasu / Black being protected from his interference.

In terms of some elements of Hakai being portrayed slightly differently in the Super manga (along with certain elements of time travel and the time rings) it’s likely due to a combination of continuity snarl and the slightly altered scripts between the two media. The Black arc was notorious for having confusing and contradicting rules or scenarios after all. That said the anime is what most people consider to be the “main” source, so that’s what should be given precedence.

Of course, Galaxia has protection against this anyway, so it doesn’t matter. But it was worth explaining.

Q. If Beerus was resistant to the Star Seed removal, why did it get removed only for him to grab it in the animation?

A. Because it was cool and a fakeout I guess. We also kind of felt like we had to include it in some form, even if we had to use the anime version of the ability..

Q. Why did Beerus have a star seed to begin with?

A. Verse equalization. You generally kind of have to make the assumption that some elements from one series are allowed to exist in another universe. It’s the same way how people will often liken Ki, Chakra, ect from various animes as being similar in a fighting scenario despite some differences between them all in each verse.

Q. If all of this stuff for Galaxia was made-up, why even give it attention? Bias bias blah blah, you came into it wanting her to lose not fair

A. I understand that this may seem like we’re just picking on the Sailor Moon universe, when that’s not the case. I (Tiki) like the series a lot after going through it. A lot of Galaxia’s win conditions to our knowledge came from the abilities and powers that were largely made up to begin with. Just like many others, I came into the fight expecting Galaxia to win because of discourse surrounding the series (hence why I told a number of people to actually read the manga before coming to any conclusions).

To ensure that she didn’t have any surprises and Beerus could win, we had to address each and every one of these claims for sake of an argument. Turns out, Beerus had exactly what he needed to win.

TL;DR

Beerus is stronger than Galaxia, and “maybe” a bit slower, but Ultra instinct closes that gap. Both null each other's destruction Hax. He’s also more skilled. Both have universal feats and are MFTL.

Galaxia’s abilities she can use effectively in a random fight are mainly stuff like flight, super strength, shields, deflection, various energy attacks, ect. With some teleportation that can’t be used to BFR Beerus. Her main hax in canon is the destruction ability and her usage of the star seeds in canon is built around using destruction on a target.

-She does not have complex multiversal feats.

-She is not infinitely fast.

-She can’t just mind control and read people's minds Mewtwo style.

-She doesn’t have some unstoppable regen, to the point of being invincible outside a direct attack on her Star Seed.

-She can’t just instantly revive on her own if reduced to a star seed, without aid from an outside source.

-She doesn’t have any time hax powers.

-She does not have general power nullification abilities.

-She does not have passive death hax

-She is not “true” immortal.

-She does not have some passive energy absorption. Only the star seed kind of counts.

-And a lot of the “conceptual” stuff is speculative. She can't literally turn off the concept of destruction around the universe to negate Beerus’s powers. Star seed control is never confirmed to be a conceptual ability. She can’t control the literal laws of reality to make 2+2 equal fish or something.

-She does not have reality warping

^

The fact a lot of this stuff has to be explicitly said is ridiculous

The main ability she has that’s a threat to Beerus is specifically the “90s anime version” of the star seed removal. Even then using the anime rendition of the ability is kind of dubious, there’s good arguments for Beerus to counter it (heck technically if we highball the universe bust he can just one shot her). A lot of the arguments regarding the Star Seed stealing being specific hax he can’t deal with are also speculative. The series is extremely vague on what star seeds are, making how they would function in relation to other universes open to a lot of interpretation..

Ultra:Anyway this is all pretty surprising, and also kind of head turning.

Like it's kind of hard not to have some sympathy for the Dragon Ball fans after this fight. They’ve mostly been pretty chill this whole fight, and a lot of them have been unfairly dumped on and mocked over how their preferred character was gonna “lose”. The fact many Sailor Moon supporters have been a bit confrontational and passive aggressive towards them is pretty bizarre.

Tiki: I recommend if someone is sending in scans without any context and you don’t know anything, to not just take people’s words for it.

  1. Interesting. Nice blog guys. Will admit I'm kinda iffy on 9 universes level Beerus, but everything else brought up is spot on and pretty clear. Can't wait to see what's next from y'all!

  2. thankyou so much for posting this. I had a lot of question from looking at what people were talking about only and im glad you cleared that up.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I have question:

Sailor Moon universe is a static universe. And in a static universe, time is infinite but space may be infinite or finite.
But in the Sailor Moon universe, they use spacetime, which fuses space and time to singular manifold. So shouldn't that make space infinite as well since it's fused with infinite time?

You mention that because the verse has places called: end of the space time or edge of spacetime, and that disproves that there are infinite but that leads to some logical problems:

    1. Infinite sets can have a beginning and an End. Ex. A set of all real numbers from 1 to 2 has a start: 1 and an end: 2, but the set is infinite, and uncountablely infinite at that.

    2. These places can only be traveled through by time travel or by characters that can warp space and time. There's nothing stating that you can physically fly to this place. Even the light of the Silver crystal is said to warp space and time. Even when Death Phantom brought the main cast to his palace, he had to warp spacetime.

    A. Also Chibi-Usa and Mamoru never were able to reach Death Phantom's domain on their own. Death Phantom shows up to chibi-usa and abducts her and then Black Lady abducts Mamoru. Black Lady also brings Prince Demande and Prince Saphir to the Wise Man's domain and the place looks absolutely different to the area of Space-Time door, especially in the anime. The Corridor is flat endless plane with endless grey sky with no stars. Wise man's domain is a bitch black void of space with a floating castle (and giant atoms in the anime). They're obviously two different places and we have no idea where exactly they are. So I don't see the claim that you can reach there naturally from the Corridor.

    1. No; never once is it specified that space is infinite, and if it WAS, then it's wholly contradicted by events in the story (i.e. if Galaxia and Eternal Sailor Moon could destroy an infinite universe, that would make them both infinitely powerful... which would make them being outclassed by Chaos utterly nonsensical, as well as attacks/characters moving from one "end" of the universe to another happening a lot, which does not make sense if there are no ends of the universe to begin with). Infinite sets may have a beginning, but they don't have an end, as that would indicate a limit AKA not infinite.

Perhaps there have been times when characters can only reach places by space-warping, but by the logic of "there's nothing stating that you can physically fly to this place", there's ALSO nothing stating they CAN'T physically fly to such places. The light of the Silver Crystal has nothing to do with the size of the universe, if it reached the end of it then it means there's a limit to the universe's size, simple as that.

    2. "No; never once is it specified that space is infinite"

You're ignoring the Static cosmos statement which specifically can be a universe with infinite time and finite space or a universe with infinite time and infinite space. You're ignoring that space and time in Sailor Moon are always linked, so you cannot have infinite time without infinite space.

"i.e. if Galaxia and Eternal Sailor Moon could destroy an infinite universe, that would make them both infinitely powerful... which would make them being outclassed by Chaos utterly nonsensical,"

This is just bad logic. Destroying an infinite universe doesn't make you infinitely powerful. The Sailor Moon universe has multiple universes. (the blog missed two other universes in their cosmology), Destroying one universe in Sailor Moon series, won't even make you the most the powerful in the verse.

"as well as attacks/characters moving from one "end" of the universe to another happening a lot,"

Characters and attacks traveled to a place called the edge of spacetime or the end of spacetime, depending on the translation. There is no moving from one end to another, like a back and forth action. And they are only ever able to move to this place by warping spacetime. No one has ever gotten to that place by conventional travel. There is nothing in the series that says a character can physically reach the end of the universe without warping spacetime.

"Infinite sets may have a beginning, but they don't have an end, as that would indicate a limit AKA not infinite."

A set of all real number from 1 to 2 that is inclusive of 1 and 2 is an infinite set of uncountable units starting with 1 and ending with 2.

"Perhaps there have been times when characters can only reach places by space-warping, but by the logic of "there's nothing stating that you can physically fly to this place", there's ALSO nothing stating they CAN'T physically fly to such places."

This so silly. This is like if I argued that Sailor Moon is omnipotent because while they don't say Sailor Moon is omnipotent, they never say she isn't too.

"The light of the Silver Crystal has nothing to do with the size of the universe, if it reached the end of it then it means there's a limit to the universe's size, simple as that."

Are you even reading your own arguments? If the light of the silvery crystal has nothing to do with the size of the universe, why are you using the fact that the light reached the edge of spacetime to disprove that it's not infinite?

    3. Sorry, one of my arguments is incomplete and I can't edit:

"Perhaps there have been times when characters can only reach places by space-warping, but by the logic of "there's nothing stating that you can physically fly to this place", there's ALSO nothing stating they CAN'T physically fly to such places."

This so silly. This is like if I argued that Sailor Moon is omnipotent because while they don't say Sailor Moon is omnipotent, they never say she isn't too. While ignoring all the times they show her as fallible and ignoring they never once shown her as non-fallible.**

You're ignoring that space and time in Sailor Moon are always linked, so you cannot have infinite time without infinite space."

No, you're ignoring that never ONCE is it directly specified which one it is - from what we've seen, it is more likely to be infinite time with finite space. You're just making the assumption of the otherwise despite various contradictions in canon proving that their universe is, in fact, finite in size, such as Wiseman's domain EXPLICITLY stated to be situated at the edge of space-time (https://prnt.sc/tu3al9 which the blog also linked). You're ignoring that time and space are connected in ANY universe, including static ones, so that point is null.

"This is just bad logic. Destroying an infinite universe doesn't make you infinitely powerful. The Sailor Moon universe has multiple universes. (the blog missed two other universes in their cosmology), Destroying one universe in Sailor Moon series, won't even make you the most the powerful in the verse."

No, it DOES make you infinitely powerful; the energy required to destroy an infinite space is, by very definition, infinite. if there are other universes (like Nehelenia's world), then they would also be infinite, which is countered by beings like Chaos somehow being above Galaxia who, by your poor reasoning, is infinite, which, given she outright states Chaos outclasses her, automatically means she does have limits and not infinite power, which then means that the universe isn't infinitely big since it would require infinite power to destroy it. Your logic doesn't work.

"A set of all real number from 1 to 2 that is inclusive of 1 and 2 is an infinite set of uncountable units starting with 1 and ending with 2."

Except no because there's a finite space between 1 and 2, I don't get your mumbo jumbo but it doesn't make sense in the context of an endless universe by definition not having ends, and edges and ends are what the SM universe definitely has.

"Are you even reading your own arguments? If the light of the silvery crystal has nothing to do with the size of the universe, why are you using the fact that the light reached the edge of spacetime to disprove that it's not infinite?"

My mistake, then: I meant it as in the light doesn't prove the universe is endless, rather it DOES prove it to have limits. Yes, the Silver Crystal is known to bend space-time, but there's no clear indication it was doing that when it literally filled the universe with its light; it was a pretty straightforward speed feat from one location to many others, no different than Beerus and Goku's ki shockwaves moving from Earth over the universe in a similar timeframe.

"This so silly. This is like if I argued that Sailor Moon is omnipotent because while they don't say Sailor Moon is omnipotent, they never say she isn't too. While ignoring all the times they show her as fallible and ignoring they never once shown her as non-fallible.**"

Except that's silly because you're comparing travelled locations to a characters' power level - apples to oranges, a silly comparison in of itself. Unless explicitly stated, for all we know those characters opting to use space-time warping to get to said locations could simply be the fastest way to get there (just like Saiyans using Instant Transmission to instantly warp to distant locations even if they could simply fly straight there over a much longer period). In fact, going back to the Wiseman example, he could've just as easily warped them back to his domain at the edge of the universe (and, again, it is explicitly stated to be situated there) rather than take the time to fly back.

    5. At the end of the day, it is simply far more likely that the Sailor Moon universe is finitely-sized. Not only is it explicitly stated to have edges where locations reside, but events like light filling it in its entirety and characters capable of releasing required energy to destroy it being further dwarfed by others (i.e. Chaos) further prove as much. Any assumptions that it is the infinitely-sized type of static universe are just that: assumptions that have answers and arguments disproving them. Neither myself nor other viewers have sufficient reason not trust in what this blog presents. Beerus still wins; end of story.

    6. Wow bloodstalker you are a fucking retard. There are dozens of way to portray infinity as lower. Count to 1234. Then count 2468. Both of these are infinite but one is the bigger than the other. Two infinite lines better than one infinite line. That's how the marvel multiverse works dumbfuck. You only convinced me that galaxia wins.

  6. How has Dbs gotten the short end of the stick when you recently disrespected the Naruto community with Roshi vs Jiraiya.. Regardless of what you all are talking about. You all have innate biased towards dbz, you literally cater to the fans more than any other fanbase that doesn't give you mass dislikes for a battle. You basically admitted in this summary of text that the characters could possibly be 400,000xs Universal. Like make it make sense Beerus has not proven to have 9xs Universal destruction capabilities.. And the graph you used is not even accurate.

The Kaioshin realm is supposed to be like 1/5th the size of the Universe of the mortal realm of dbz which is inside of 1 Milky way which is a Galaxy.

The thing with this shockwave feat is you got your informations from the biased Vs wiki please do your own research..

The feat with the shockwaves is an obvious outlier feat and the series of dbz in general has been rather inconsistent and contradictory to be using massively highballed numbers and then add it to shockwaves.

The shockwaves expanded which means they got stronger no logic went into the thought of coming up with this feat. I assume any character who does a coexisting feat with shockwaves means they get free reign to cheat the system? Especially not actually ever showing destroying a Universe.

If they were Universal the punches would have destroyed the Universe on contact with the first punch. Also let them try them do it alone and watch nothing happen..

I recommend you all either just not do dbz fights at all any more or find a better way of scaling the series and characters.. But option 1 might be the best bet. Considering how unfair the series scaling is compared to other series even though power levels no longer exist.

    1. Also, another thing you all did wrong was base the speed of the shockwaves off of their speed when we know (outlier feat) I swear this feat is like the enemy of scaling. Was a terrible way of gauging speed I highly doubt the characters can move like make it from where they were to the edges of the milky way in less than like 5 or 10 seconds without special abilities. Only ability I know that can do that is instant transmission which takes time to lock on.

The characters in dbz are not just resistant to all forms of hax as well, hypnosis, telekinesis, mind control,or something like getting thrown into a black hole

Krillin has cut off the tail of Frieza and almost killed Nappa based solely just off of his ability.. And if a true time welder were to ever just turn a character like goku into a baby there would be nothing stopping them.. The dragonballs were able to bring goku back to his full hp in dbz when it says they're based off the creators abilities, and Moro literally recently was able to steal power from the characters. This is a very wanky topic but I'm sure they are not just resistant to all things.

Are you all trying to imply when Goku learned ssb it automatically made him 50 times Universal? It seems like a big stretch to say this especially when it's not backed up.

Galaxia is stated to be the strongest antagonist throughout the entire series.. But you guys did disservice to her character.

Breaking the Holy Grail was all ready a Universal feat for Galaxia and contending with Eternal Sailor Moon strongest attack, the same attack she used to defeat Queen Nehelia, the same attack just one of Galaxia subordinates were able to knock away with relative ease.

If anything Galaxia deserves to be in a Universal tier more than Beerus just based off consistent feats.

I think personally even Ptah50 would give beerus a difficult time
