History

Ray Palmer was your typical person living in Ivy Town, Connecticut: Graduate of Ivy University in Physics, proposes to Sweetheart and Up and Coming Lawyer Jean Loring and trying to discover the secret of shrinking things. One day, he discovered a piece of a White Dwarf Star and took it home to see if that could work. Turning some of it into lenses, he gets closer but not good enough.
One day, during a field trip, he and his friends were caught in a collapsing cave. Desperate, he decides to shrink himself to find a way to let the others escape. To his luck, he didn’t explode when he grew back. Thinking it was something in the cave he tries and fails still. Figuring it's something to do with him, Ray Palmer decides to use the remaining White Dwarf Star to create a material for himself to wear and become a superhero: the Atom.
As the Atom, he defeated many common crooks, aliens, gone back in time numerous times and even joined the Justice League. He even finally got Jean Loring to accept his Marriage Proposal. But nothing lasts forever. Despite being married, the two's relationship strained with Jean having an affair. After an incident that made people think he died, he was soon found and captured by the Katarthans who put him in Gladiatorial Battles. Eventually he would lead rebels to overthrow the rulers and save them from an explosion.
Sadly, after that he finalized the divorce with Jean and hoped to find a new love among the newly freed Katarthans. Then the Crisis of Infinite Earths happened. While his history mostly remained the same, the Katarthans were wiped out in a fire and the Atom’s identity was discovered. He faked his death though joined the likes of the Justice League, Suicide Squad and the Teen Titans (was temporarily de-aged). And then Identity Crisis happened…
Jean Loring wanted to get back together with Ray Palmer. And instead of just talking it over, she kills Sue Dibny and faked a murder attempt to trick Ray into coming back. Instead, he finds out she’s insane (doubt it), sends her to Arkham Asylum and leaves for another universe. Hearing about a Sentient Virus, he also left a single immune person to stop it. It failed in one universe.

Sword - When he was living among the Katarthans, he picked up sword fighting. He continues to do some of their traditions and still has a sword to represent his time there. Atom Suit - Outfit that can also Shrink and Grow. Rubber Soles on the bottom to be able to stand on electric currents.
Bio-Belt - Powered by a fragment of a White Dwarf Star, it is a device that allows Ray Palmer to shrink or grow. It is capable of shunting, absorbing and exchanging excess bulk from another dimension called the Mass-Zone. It also allows a person to shift density so they could be immaterial or as heavy as a Semi-truck. If inverted, it can also create a growth beam. Can do so by mentally willing himself to shrink or grow. Especially with his new device. New 52 has a teleportation device to return the user to the default location. Can also negate others' attempts at shrinking.

Miniature Computer - Allows him to know what time he traveled to.
Universal Translator
Dimensional Vibrator - Allows him to travel to other Dimensions.
Energy Cage - Device that can allow people access without letting the captured creature in
Magic Satchel - Basically a pouch where he keeps his stuff shrunk until he needs them
Lens Sizer - Allows targets to shrink and grow. Doesn’t work for Atom in a certain time period.
PRIMP - Device that can shrink/grow an entire city while avoiding specific targets

Powers and Abilities

Offensive

Expert Hand to Hand Fighter - An Excellent Hand to hand Fighter, with lessons learned from the Justice League as well as studied Judo.
Swordsmanship - Trained by the Katarthans in the field. Retains skills in New 52
Mass Alteration - Can control the amount of mass he has. While the Wiki suggests up to 180 Pounds, there does seem to be evidence it could be to the Mass of his White Dwarf Star. Uses this to put all his mass into attacks.

Can also control exactly where said mass goes.
Can also manipulate the density of others.(if they’re wearing Bio-Belts)
Can also manipulate the weight of others.

Rearrange Atoms - By shrinking small enough, he can mess with a person’s atoms. This includes Superman’s atoms, being able to create Kryptonite within him.
Shrink/Grow Others - With spare size control belts, he can make people and things shrink and grow as well. But when they grow, they tend to explode. New suit prevents

such things, as well as allowing him to shrink others by touching them.

Defensive

Olympic Level Gymnast - Allows him to jump around and do things a normal person can’t. The Flash even admits Ray is more agile than he is.
